Elopement party/announcement

I am in the same boat and I think it's okay to send out save the dates for an elopement party. Just be honest that it's not a wedding. Or you can just send out the invitations when ever you want as long as people know you're eloping.

Word it as a Celebration of Marriage or however to ensure that people know you are already married not getting married. Is it possible to send them out right as you leave for your elopement and then schedule the event later. You can then decide how much time you wish to give OOT people to make arrangements. Nothing states that you have to have the celebration immediately when you return

That's just when I want to do it. I was thinking of having it say "we're eloping!" With all the details of the celebration. Most people that are invited already know our plan so I don't think that will be an issue.

We’re eloping and having a party to celebrate with close friends and family a couple months later. Since we have several family members that would be traveling across the country we sent out save the dates calling it a post elopement celebration.
