“elopement”? vs “private ceremony”?

Angelica, on March 29, 2018 at 2:21 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 4
My fiancé and I agreed (even before our engagement) we wanted to elope. Do a just us (&MOHs) ideally in SF. Well due to finances and work schedules that plan won’t happen. We’re going to stay in state. We’re planning a party the same day with family and friends. But I’m stuck on if we call it a elopement or private ceremony? do we call it a wedding party? Or a happily ever after party? Only a few of our guests are aware of our plans and I want to make it easy for everyone to understand, but the wording on the invites is tricky.

I think if you’re planning a party the same day as the wedding I’d call it a private ceremony. I think “happily ever after” party sounds SO cute, I’ve never heard that before! So I vote to call it that Smiley smile

I would call it a private ceremony vs an elopement. Not sure what to call the reception portion.

Its a private ceremony. I have heard of people using Happily ever after. So that sounds like a great choice.

To me, an elopement is Bride and Groom and no one else. A private ceremony is Bride, Groom and Immediate family only (plus spouses and SO's)

Call the gathering afterwards your Happily Ever After Party or your reception.
