Elopement/micro Wedding Timeline

Annie, on May 7, 2022 at 8:29 PM Posted in Planning 0 2

Hi all,

My fiancé an I are getting married in Spain (destination wedding) but will only be having 8 guests (parents and siblings only) attending. I'm trying to figure out an appropriate timeline but am not sure where to start, so I would love some ideas and input from people who have some experience. For context, the ceremony, dinner and accommodation for the night is all at a 10th century castle so guests will be commuting there from the nearest city (2 hours away). I know the order of events, but am really not sure how much time I should allocate for different things. My order of events will be:

-Makeup (for bride, both mothers and 3 sisters for 6 women in total)

-Hair is being done for me by my sister

-First look & first look photos (just bride and groom)

-Ceremony

-Family Portraits

-Bride and groom disappear for couple photos (drinks & canapes provided for guests while they explore the castle during bride and groom photos)

-Sunset dinner at 5:30pm with speeches from bride and groom & parents but no first dance (this timing is firm due to the time of the sunset)

I have seen a few articles with suggested timelines for micro weddings but they seem to be aimed at people having around 20 or 30 guests, and a lot of elopement timelines don't have food, makeup floral vendors etc coming so they are less structured, so I'm having some difficulty!

I'd be so appreciative of any feedback anyone can provide, and also please let me know if you think I'm missing anything!

I'd try to squeeze in some sunset photos of just you and your groom if you can.

Your makeup should be done last so it's fresh. It will also take the longest. Ask your makeup artist how long they expect everything to take.
Depending on how elaborate your hair will be I'd reserve at least an hour. Can your sister get her makeup done first, then do you hair while everyone else is doing makeup?

The sunset photo's are a great idea, thank you!

Yes I'll definitely get my sister's makeup done first so there's plenty of time. I always thought hair was done last but you're right, the makeup will be fresher if it's done last, again thanks for the tip!
