Engaged in the age of Covid...do we still have an engagement party?

Lauren, on April 27, 2020 at 5:18 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 3

My fiance and I got engaged in March, right before things really hit the fan. At first we thought we'd have the engagement party in May, but that quickly became October. Traditionally, the engagement party is within three months, but these are unusual times. I think people will understand why we waited until the fall to celebrate, but what if a second wave hits? I'm getting less confident that we can expect an October 2020 engagement party to happen, and it seems silly to throw an engagement party any later than that.

Newly engaged people: What are you doing? Are you still having an engagement party, and if so, what do you have in mind? How are you preparing for the possibility of cancellation amid a continued public health crisis?

I think you will be okay to have it in October. A lot of people are still planning on having their weddings this summer, fall and winter. Things are starting to open up and I feel like it will get better soon😊

I was suppose to have my engagement party in April and that was cancelled. I am going to try again but not planning on any specific date yet. I want to see how things are once everything opens and how comfortable family/friends feel about going on again. So, you are not alone! Trust me I think even though engagement parties usually happen a couple months after people will perfectly understanding to why it did not happen sooner. Don't get discouraged. You have a lot of time until October.

    Hi, and welcome!

    A) People will understand. Times are different. (And if people don't understand, there's your head's up as to potential relationship issues.)

B ) October is really likely to depend on where you live, and how your local public health outlook is like.

    C) *Always* always have a Plan B! And try to be flexible.

I'm sorry everything is so strange right now, but we're all here to help.
