Engagement Parties - Ideas/tips

FutureMrsHadi, on August 13, 2019 at 1:37 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 3

Hey lovelies! I'm so excited to finally be less than a year away from our wedding (we had a long engagement). My FH and I wanted an engagement party as sort of a way to kick off the festivities and get the ball rolling. My parents are hosting it at their house and it's just going to be a low-key backyard bbq with our bridal party, close family, and a few close friends (total of like 35 people). I would love to hear some tips or ideas to get inspired! We're going to play the Shoe Game at some point, but that's all we have planned. If you guys had one, what did you do? What was your favorite part? What's something you wish would have been done differently?

I like casual engagement parties so food, alcohol, music, etc. just so people can mingle and get to know each other before the bridal shower, bachelor/bachelorette parties, and wedding!

We did a super low key engagement party at a local brewery. We provided snacks (we made a pretty solid charcuterie spread and I baked two kinds of cookies) and sodas/water, and let everyone pick up their own tab at the bar. We didn't do any kind of games or organized activities and just let everybody mingle. We hadn't picked our wedding party at that point, but I knew who I wanted my maid of honor to be, and since she came in from out of state I gave her a proposal box before she left. We got our engagement photos back a few days before the party, so we printed out a bunch of them strung them together for décor, and also got some congrats and Mr. & Mrs. balloons from Target.

That's awesome! That's almost exactly what we are doing as well with our photos! I'm going to string them with fairy lights to an old pallet. It's good to know that the low-key, just letting people mingle is what works well. That was my plan in the beginning but then I started to worry people would get bored haha! Thanks for your input!
