Hello everyone😅 In Turkish culture there is an elaborate engagement party that is just as big and important as the wedding. I have many close family members here in the states and I’m not sure if it’s considerate to make them travel twice to Turkey, once for the engagement and once for the wedding the following year. Please let me know if i should invite them? Or make them engagement optional?

    You can invite them but I would expect declines because of all the traveling. What do you mean make engagement optional?

    You can’t force anyone to go to your wedding or engagement party no matter what attendance is optional.

    Hi Brandi! Congratulations on your engagement!

    I think the best thing to do is to invite your family members to both, it's nice to show that you like them at your special event, even if they are unable to attend. They will understand that you do not expect them to make such a long journey two years in a row but this way they can make their own decision whether they would prefer to attend the engagement party or the actual wedding.
