Engagement party ideas đŸ€”

Shametra, on September 19, 2019 at 3:00 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 18
Soooooooo I'm looking for not so expensive engagement party ideas... I'm torn between doing it at my home with catering services... or doing it at a restaurant with reserved party room... also if I have it at a restuarant do i handle the bill or is it every man for themselves?

If you do it at a restaurant with a private room you will most likely have to put down a deposit and you will be handed the bill at the end of the night. I can't imagine a restaurant will split a bill to that extent. It would also be extremely rude to your guests who you invited to celebrate and then make them pay for your party.

If you are hosting a party, that means you should cover the costs for all invited guests.

If people are invited to a party during meal time, a meal is typically expected that is provided by the host. Typically, engagement parties are hosted by parents or friends of the bride & groom. If you don't want to host a full meal, I'd host it outside of meal time and just have appetizers and drinks. So maybe 10-12 or 2-4 or 7-9.

My parents are throwing us an engagement party at our house. We are keeping it informal and very simple. My FH is (notoriously) cheap and has been joking for over a year that he thinks little caesars would make great wedding food. It's become a running joke among our friends and family so we are going to do Little Caesars for our engagement party along with other "party foods". Nothing terribly expensive but still a celebration with people close to us.

My parents offered to throw us an engagement party. Originally we were going to have brunch at a restaurant, but the venue fee alone (I live in a city) was like $1000. Then it would’ve been $35 pp. Which in my opinion is a ridiculous amount of money to spend on an engagement party.

As an alternative, I think we are leaning toward having an open house at my parents house that we would get it catered (just apps). We are looking into catering options now, but it seems to be the cheaper option for sure.

He says "who wouldn't be happy with that?! Everyone gets their own hot & ready AND they get left overs!". He suggested rsvp cards with pepperoni, cheese, extra most bestest.

For the record, that will NOT be our wedding food

If you host a party at all, no matter where it is, it's your bill. We did ours at my parents home by the pool and it was beautiful! We did it mid afternoon so that we could just do snack food, all using family recipes. We got great reviews about the food, and it kept it more laid back. We're doing a formal wedding, but thought we could go more informal just for the families to meet each other.

I told my Maid of Honor that for my bridal party thing (it's a bit late for an engagement party but I don't want gifts so it's not really a shower) I want to go to a local Japanese restaurant and rent their tea room. But also I was playing with doing like a gaming night in with finger food snacks and movies and board games. I'm a very casual bride though so that may not be your style.
