Engagement party invitations

Danitra, on March 24, 2020 at 1:42 AM Posted in Parties and Events 0 7
We are having a small gathering (35 or less people) for our engagement party. We’re doing an I do BBQ and as traditions keep going out of the window, is it appropriate to include the registry on the engagement party invitations or just let our guests ask is where we are registered? I’ve read that it’s taboo to do so, but I’ve been to engagement parties and it has definitely been on there. I don’t want people to think they’re obligated to buy a gift, especially since there are other events leading up to the wedding. If you’re like me, you bring a gift to any event but these are the main people I want to celebrate with is. We have a registry, as well as a Honeyfund.

I wouldn't include a registry on the invitation. If you have a wedding website you can include one there.

Agree with PP. Engagement parties aren't gift giving events anyway. It's typical to bring a bottle of wine or another small congratulatory item, but most couples have their engagement parties shortly after getting engaged and haven't even thought about a registry yet.

We got emgagws in January and were planning a May engagement party. For obvious reasons, May can’t happen. I’ve already started the registry and Honeyfund but haven’t released anything yet. My mom said the same though, people will bring something small but gifting is for the wedding and bridal shower.

I’ve never attended an engagement party where people brought gifts off a registry. Small items like wine or gift cards have been typical at these parties in my social circle. I wouldn’t include the registry info for an engagement party.

Typically engagement parties are not gift giving events. That is what the shower is for. You may get some wine, cards, things like that but probably nothing off of a registry.

I wouldn't include it or mention it for an engagement party. I would save the registry for the shower.
