Engagement Party - Necessary or Not?

We didn't have one and I probably would skip it entirely under any other circumstance. But we might do some sort of party similar before our wedding here in Munich since many coworkers here aren't close enough with us to want to go all the way to America, but would still like to celebrate with us in some capacity.

Not necessary, how many times do we need to celebrate us as a couple lol. I find it obnoxious. Only think its worth it if you're having a small wedding or getting married at town hall.

Not necessary! We didn't have one. I think they could be fun, but definitely not needed.

I think engagement parties are fun! They don't have to be over the top or fancy. We just gathered a few friends & family for dinner & drinks & it was so fun!

I never had to throw one but my Daddy put one together for me and my fiance with the family. It was fun. No gifts or anything, just a good time with the family.

I don't think its necessary at all. We even planned on skipping it but we had one because my mom really wanted us to have so she offered to pay for it. Didn't want to say no to her.

Not neccessary. Word of mouth has always worked just fine.

Not necessary. We’re not having one. I’ve never been to one, but they seem to be big where FH is from. I think it’s a nice to have if someone offers to throw you one. For us most of our friends/family are 2+ hours away and we didn’t want to spend the money on it when it can be used towards the wedding.

It probably would have been helpful since so many of my family members are in other states and I missed being able to tell some of them myself, but we didn’t do one and I don’t think it’s all that necessary.

Fun? Yes. Necessary? I, personally don’t think so. If it’s something you want, absolutely go for it. But it’s definitely not a need

We skipped it mostly because nobody offered to throw one. I don't think they are necessary. Super fun if you have/had one though!

Not necessary for me. Though in saying that, I did have an urge for it recently, so I may do one in the end.

Definitely not necessary.. we didn’t do it because what’s the point lol we just posted it on Facebook and told family members.

Not necessary! My sister in law is throwing one of us, however, and I’m super excited to have everyone together. Our engagement is a little over a year, so it’s nice to have some events to celebrate before the shower.
