    I could see having one only if you are having a wedding far away from here you live. . .not just DW, live one the east coast and getting married on the west coast

    Sure, I would've loved to have had an engagement party, but this wasn't a necessity for us, so we opted to not have one.

    Nice to have! We had an impromptu one with our families and my roommates, but it definitely wasn't necessary.

    Personally we didn't have an engagement party. We got engaged in Hawaii and by the time we got back everyone knew and the planning had already started. I think engagement parties are nice if you have an intimate get together but it's really not necessary

    Nice to have if you have time/budget. Most of my friends didn't really have one, or it was just a cookout, back yard type event.

    Not necessary. Wedding is so expensive and too much stress. There's no need of added stress and expense IMO
