Engagement Party Planning

FBIL and his wife offered to throw us one, but it would've been in January 2021, and they would only let us invite maybe 30 people because of the pandemic (totally understandable). But when FH has 3 brothers, all married, 2 with kids, plus our wedding party, we wouldn't have been able to invite who we wanted. So it would've quite literally just been a party with family, which is fine, but we didn't see a point in that lol seeing that they had already celebrated with us.

We decided to postpone it, and they're throwing us a couple's shower in September with our family, and family friends!

I am planning my engagement party currently. I looked into it Bc I’m clueless when it comes to all this stuff. Lol so we are booking our venue this week and our date is 9/4/22. So after checking with everyone that we want there the date that seems to work best is 8/21/21. Close to a year before the wedding. I am only invited family and all wedding parties Bc we are asking all that we want in the wedding to be in the wedding there. Also I want to meet some of my FH family so when the wedding comes I already meant them and it won’t be weird lol. I plan to have it at a VFW. I do not want to splurge on a fancy place or put more pressure on FH to fix up our backyard Bc he is working so much to pay for the wedding. I will be decorating so much and making the best out of it!
