Hi everyone. My fiance and I are in the beginning stages of planning and a few of our friends are planning an engagement party for us. We have a large number of people that we know from the tennis club where we play, but obviously can't invite all of them to the wedding. We have made a list of who we are closest with to invite to the wedding/reception. My question is: Is it rude to invite people to the engagement party who you know you don't have on the wedding guest list? I'm thinking about how I would feel if I was invited to an engagement party but then not to the wedding and I feel like we should just stick to who is on the guest list but we aren't sure... Help please! Thank you!

I would just stick with who is on the wedding guest list. If you would feel weird being invited to an engagement party and not the wedding it's likely that they would too. It's kind of like saying you're not important enough to come to the wedding but you can come party with us and potentially give a gift.

Thanks Abby! I agree. While we hope that people understand why guest lists are limited for the wedding itself, I still wouldn't want to hurt feelings by inviting them to this party but not the big one. Thanks for replying!
