Engagement Party

Mandee, on January 29, 2020 at 8:40 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 2

Hey ya'll.

My fiance and I are hosting our own engagement party. Neither of our parents seem too terribly excited about it (to be fair his mother is in NC and her youngest is engaged to be married before us so I understand) and the bridal party is scattered to the wind and doesn't seem to stoked either. I know that I'm going to catch flack for throwing my own party, but I'm only getting married once dang it and I want all the experiences!

With that being said, I'm looking at having a casual little beach bar party at a local spot for a few friends and family. Do we pay for everyone's food/drinks? do they pay for their own? I'm a little lost on the ettiqute for hosting this at a place not my home!

Thank you!

If you're hosting a party I would pay for them.

If you're not planning to pay, it would be less of an engagement party and more of an informal hangout to celebrate.

If you're hosting your own engagement party, I'd certainly expect you to host your guests.... Saying, "come celebrate us, and pay for your own food and beverage," seems rude to me. It could be as casual as a pizza and beer party on the beach, but "hosting" it means you should cover the cost.
