Engagement party

We didn't have an engagement party, but they're typically held within 3-4 months of the proposal.

Agree- 3 to 4 months after the proposal. Before all the craziness of the wedding planning starts.

We are having one three years later after getting engaged lol

I’ve been engaged for less than 3 months now and don’t intend on having one this year. FH and I are going to treat our wedding party for dinner to thank them for being in the wedding, which will kind of act as our “party” but really a dinner. This will not occur well into the new year.

We didn't have one - unless you count the party where we got engaged. We had a very short engagement, and felt a party was unnecessary.

In general, I’d suggest having it sooner rather than later, when the engagement is still “fresh” and “new.” I personally would feel awkward asking others to celebrate my engagement once it was old news!

Got engaged June 2019. wedding is July 2021 we did our engagement party July 2019. We wanted everyone to get together and see us and the ring. We just had it at a restaurant room and we provided cookie cake.
