So, when we got engaged (two weeks ago) my fiancé made it a party. His whole family and my whole family were at the house when I got home so it was a big celebration after . Question is, do we still have an engagement party ? Who plans it if so? Do we throw it or does our family or friends throw it ?

It sounds like you already did. An engagement party is to celebrate your engagement. Also, it's customary for all pre-wedding events to be hosted by people other than the couple.

We honestly never even had an engagement party, and I can't say I feel like I missed out on anything. I had a bridal shower and a bachelorette party that my amazing bridal party threw for me. I think engagement parties are a relatively new trend anyway.

If someone offers to host it, you can totally have one! Typically the couple's parents or close friends will offer.
