Engagement Party

If you are having an engagement party, how did you determine the date? Our parents would like to throw us an engagement, but wanted to pick a date that would work for us. The date we keep coming back to is July 4th as my parents typically have a get together anyway. Would that date work or with it being a holiday is it a day to stay away from?

    You are all free. Would most of your other guests be free? Then have it.
    No reason to stay away from the date.

    The only thing to stay away from is if their usual get together involves people who won’t be on the guestlist for the wedding. Everyone who is invited to the engagement party should also be invited to the wedding. So, I wouldn’t have it the day they usually have a party if a number of their usual guests are not people you’d invite to your wedding.

    We settled on a date based on the availability of our guest. Some couldn't come but the majority of the people we invited were able to attend!

    Thank you for your response! The people who come to their usual get together would all be invited to the wedding as they are all family. We would add my fiances family to the guest list Smiley smile

    Thank you so much for your reply! I will talk with my FML and FIL to see if their family typically has something on the date we are thinking and then gage if it is a good date for the majority of guests.
