Engagement party

Chiara, on January 14, 2024 at 11:53 PM Posted in Planning 0 9
I’m proposing to my boyfriend of two years , I asked
His parents for their blessing which I received . I’m proposing February 16th and I set my date for the engagement party which is all a surprise for my boyfriend. My question is , do you send out invitations to the surprise engagement party (April) , should I make email invites or just reach out personally ? All comments appreciated!

You only need 6 weeks for a formal invite, so I’d wait until after the proposal to send anything out. If you live together, I’d go with digital invitations so he can’t see anything that might get returned or RSVPs.

Yes we love together and that’s what I was thinking to do digital invites via the wedding wire website I just wasn’t sure if texting would suffice but I’m ocd and like to have everything organized so I like being able to add guest info here

Send any digital invites from your personal phone/email so they don’t get lost in the junk folders which many posts have mentioned has happened via the WeddingWire app/website.

Send invites immediately today because that is 4 weeks away and some people may not be able to make it with less than 4 weeks notice.

I agree with others regarding the digital invites. I also would not send them until the proposal has been accepted.

I personally would be horrified to have a surprise engagement party, but you know your SO and if he would be fine with that.

I’m laughing only because I’m imagining him saying no , but i understand I wasn’t planning on sending any evites until after the proposal Feb 16 , however I’m currently
just gathering peoples info and putting it in the guest list here . I just have some out of state people so I didn’t know if it’s best to give notice as soon as I can

An engagement party is usually to announce or celebrate an engagement or a newly engaged couple, as in both of you. So I really don't understand the point of it being a surprise for one of you. I would not send a heads up or invitations until after you are engaged. You have plenty of time. Even wedding invitations don't go out before 6-8 weeks.

Digital invitations are fine in this situation.

It’s not your engagement you don’t need to understand-much love
