Engagement photo nails

Marina, on December 18, 2017 at 2:26 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 22

Hi everyone, im taking my engagement photos this week and I was thinking of doing acrylic nails with glitter tips. Do you guys think i should just stick to a neutral color or is glitter okay?

I would opt out for the glitter. You're turning into a married woman. While your friends might find it cute, your older family members will find it childish. Also, keep in mind that your colleagues will be watching how you behave throughout the process. Don't give them a reason to judge.

I think it would look pretty with your ring since I’m assuming you’ll get some ring shots in there lol (; especially since it’s christmas time everything is sparkly right now !

What is more YOU? Would you normally wear some kind of glitter tip? If so, then do it.

I would still stay with a neutral color - white/silver/light pink/gold maybe etc. Chances are in the photos the glitter on your nails won't be picked up nearly as much as you think they might. The color of them definitely will, but not always glitter (whether dipped glitter or glittery polish).

But whatever makes you happiest is what you should do!

My nails for my first engagement shoot(photographer lost the pictures Smiley sad )
were like sky blue with silver glitter. Our colors are blue and silver. Do whatever your heart desires there is no right or wrong way to do your nails.

So now we worry that our coworkers are staring intently at our nails and judging? I don't think any of my former coworkers cared what my nails looked like.

Neidy, that comment is a bit over the top. I get my nails done regularly and some have glitter in the polish, some don't. My friends love them, even my older relatives have complimented my nails. Hell my female doctors have complimented on the glittery colors.

Why would her Coworkers be so invested in what she's doing for her wedding, and how she does her nails?

OP, if you want the glitter, I'd suggest a neutral base tone. As PP mentioned, it won't really show up well in the photos. In our e-pics you can't tell my nail color. I wasn't going to waste money and do extra design or anything. I went with a simple red. Unless you want focus on your nails, i wouldn't stress or worry about which color/design.

    @Neidy..... no.

@OP do you normally do acrylic nails? If not I would suggest thinking about that more. I've done acrylic nails twice but didn't keep them up, each time it took 6 months for my nails to grow back normally. If you want your nails to grow longer, get regular manicures like every 2 weeks instead. It's a longer process but more manageable.

As for glitter, I love a little bit of sparkle. If that's what you like, do it!

If you want glitter have glitter! Mine were navy, it’s whatever you want to do. Don’t think about it too much.

My dress was white for photos along with maroon colored flats, so I did my nails to match my shoes.

I got my nails done in straight glitter after we got engaged, so I guess I’m childish?
Honestly I just liked how it looked against my ring, but I got gel instead of acrylic. I think it’ll look great.

    Totally disagree with Neidy.

What is more you? If you are considering glitter, do it! What is the setting and style of your engagement photo session? Something popular right now is to just have the ring finger in glitter

No harm in glitter. I say go for it.

FWIW, I don't think I know anyone in my life who would judge me or find glittery nails childish. That's way out there and pushing it.

I have glitter nails right now! LOL #teamglitter

i think a little glitter wouldn't hurt anyone. it probably wont even show up much in the photos, and i doubt anyone who cares about you is going to look at the pictures of your ring close up and be like 'OH MY GOD YOU CHILD YOU WORE GLITTER POLISH HOW OLD ARE YOU 5?!" they're going to see a beautiful, happy couple and some gorgeous jewelry!

Just like your decision to marry the man you've chosen to, what you wear, how you look, how you do your makeup, and your nails are all YOURS, so if you want glitter - go for it! Smiley winking

Totally up to you. I got neutral nails because I like more neutral colors. But if you like glitter I don't see any harm in going for it. I think it would look very pretty.

Hmmm from the comments one would guess I spoke blasphemy! Relax, ladies. It’s glitter. No need to get your panties in a bundle.

If glitter is you then I think it’s fine. For our e-pics I painted my nails a gold color that had slight shimmer.

A glitter French tip is actually quite subtle - I did gold glitter French tips last year for NYE and you can't tell at all in the photos. My engagement photos were a slightly sparkly red (wore a navy dress). If you're used to have acrylics and glittery nails - go for it. I pride myself on fun nail colors that stand out so it would be out of character for me to wear a nude color. It's about what makes you happy!
