Engagement Photo Props??

Hey brides and grooms! I've been lurking for a while, and I didn't see any posts about this so I figured I would ask - I always see engagement photo ideas with props like burlap signs of the wedding date, flowers, etc. What are your opinions on props for engagement photos? Sweet? Too corny? Thank...

I'm not a fan of props. The only thing that will be in our engagement pics (taking this weekend) is me standing on a tree stump (I'm short he's tall) with a wooded background.. And our truck. We do everything with our truck including camping so we're going to take a couple shots using it. The rest is just.. Us. Smiley smile

My stepdaughter took some pictures with us during our engagement shoot and we wore flower crowns, which I'm not sure if that's a prop or really an accessory but it turned out cute! I didn't wear the flower crown for all of our pictures because I think it may be out of style at some point. We also used a blanket, but the photographer provided all of the props.

FH Is in the military so during our engagement shoot we had some photos with him in his camo uniform, with an American flag, etc. This is a detail shot of my ring over his name tag Smiley smile I'm getting the name tag sewn inside of my dress as well.

FH and I love to ride his Harley (my parents are HD enthusiasts as well) so we will be incorporating that into a lot of pictures but other than that just us.

@mrsniedersmith Love the idea! I was trying to think of a cute way to include my daughter in our engagement pics. After all, we are becoming a family not just a married couple. Thanks for sharing!

We had my dog in it and I thought it was really cute and not cheesy! He's 10 and I've had him since the day he was born, so I really wanted him to be involved.

    Props come across as childish.

My FH and I are bringing our snowboards to ours. We met snowboarding, we're on the mountain every weekend, it's our thing! Our photog is wicked excited about it!

I say if you want to, do it. It depends on your personality, not anyone else's.

Personally, I hate them. The almost always looked contrived and I prefer a photojournalist style rather than obviously posed photos, but that's me.

Dogs, on the other hand, are fine.

Thank you for sharing everyone!! I love hearing everyone's thoughts and experiences. The plan is to do our pics on the beach so I think I'm going to bring a blanket and call it a day haha!

Does Santa count as a prop? Because we had so much fun with him.....

Not a fan of props. Actually, I really dislike them. They're distracting. I'd rather see a couple in a beautiful setting with genuine expressions on their faces. I'm hoping it's just a fad.

You don't need them, and if it's something that doesn't "go", it makes the picture look cheap.

We used a quilt that FH's grandma made for us for our engagement and a "B" but that's it. And only used the B in three photos, and i really didnt like the photos we used it in. Used the quilt for a lot of pics since we were outside and FH is allergic to grass (that's the whole reason we used it at all to begin with haha)

I'm a professional photographer, also engaged. I am having our photos done next weekend, and although I don't have any props currently, I don't mind 1 or 2. You don't want to over do it because the photos are meant to be about you, not the props. I like using something with the date on it for sending out save the dates, or something for my dog, but that's about it for props. Just be tasteful with them
