Engagement Photos coming up: Help with Hairstyle!

VWCat, on June 4, 2015 at 3:45 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 13

So engagement photos are June 28. I'm having my hair/make up done. I know my photog will help with styling, but I wanted to already have some inspiration. Pinterest is where I found these. Help! I'm not sure if these will work.

We're going to 3 locations:

A brewery and historic district

A state park

A Drive In Movie Theater

We'll have the VW bus. For the first 2 locations, I have normal attire. For the drive in, I have a modern pin up style dress (see attached) I'm going to wear for the last location.

I don't want my hair/makeup to be SUPER pin up style, but I want it to work with the regular outfits but make sense with the last outfit. Ideas? Here's a couple of what I was thinking. My hair also holds a curl well (naturally wavy).

Pic 1: My pin up dress

Pic 2: Hair 1?

Pic 3: Hair 2? I have a cowlick right there so this could work lol

I'm leaning towards the first hair style because I do a half up/half down kind of like that almost everyday, and I know it will look good on me.

Any other ideas for subdued vintage hairstyles? Smiley laugh

Oh I love the second one. How long is your hair?

First one is gorgeous and would make sense with everything, although maybe add some more curl to it? Love that dress (Evelyn approved lol)

It's a couple inches above my elbow. I couldn't do the bottom of it because my hairs too long, but I was thinking that I could have the top curved like that with defined waves all the way down. I just thought the top bit would work with my hair because I have that "cowlick" lol.

ETA: I am getting my hair color refreshed next week and might have an inch or two taken off to clean up the ends, so it might be a tiny bit shorter.

FMJKR Hahaha I think we had this conversation before because this is my BMs dress! You're first name is Evelyn right?! (LOVE that name)

I bought it in a navy color to make sure the cut, fabric, and quality was all there (my BMs are wearing it in burgundy). I love it and can't wait to wear it!

With your hair length, both would actually look very similar, it would just be a matter of pinning your front pieces back or leaving them in the curl. I'd try for the second one and if it's not working, pin it back and move on.

Oh yeah if your hair is that long, do the first one, especially since you'll be outside.

Shucks! I love the second one, but rarely can I get it so polished looking. I was hoping that maybe the stylist could do it like that second one. I love shorter hair cuts, but they look terrible on me... It "broadens" my face if that even makes sense.

I'll bring both with me. I think the first one makes the most sense and would be the most me. I was hoping maybe someone could give me hope that I could have sexy polished hair or some more ideas for medium length hair that I wasn't finding on pinterest lol.

Here's a picture of what my hair looks like on most days (I'm getting some highlights/lowlights to even out my roots because I've been growing out the color!)... it's slightly longer in the back section than it is in the front. Just want to make sure the inspiration pictures work with my hair and what I bring to the hair stylist! Smiley smile

Oh she'll be able to make it polished and sexy (or at least she SHOULD be able to, it's her job) Just with that length it won't be shaped like that, does that make sense? It'll have more of the longer old-hollywood feel to it. With pincurls the ends stay pretty rolled on short hair but it'll fall into more of a curl/wave on longer hair. ETA: your cowlick would work amazingly with something like this.

LOVE your inspiration. I'm leaning toward style one, but I love style 2 as well. I think that style 1 might transfer better to modern day, as well as pinup.
