Engagement Photos in the Rain

Stephanie, on September 15, 2019 at 3:36 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 6
So this morning we had our engagement photoshoot.
We live about 2 hours and 45 minutes from our hometown (where the session was held) and on the drive up, we got an email from the photographer saying that it was raining and asking us if we wanted to keep the session planned. Yesterday when we checked the weather it said it would be sunny and 81!! Well it ended up being rainy and 64.

We told the photographer we would stick through the rain. Lucky, it was just a light rain during the photoshoot, and she had a clear umbrella for us to use when it got harder

I thought the photos would be ruined, but the session went great! We got plenty of photos without an umbrella, and I think the ones with an umbrella will turn out really cute. We found an area beside a pavilion where the photographer could stand under the pavilion to protect her camera, and still get pictures of us with a beautiful nature landscape.

The second half of our photoshoot involved "bad" 80s outfits (and a mullet wig for my FH) along with some CRINGEY poses. Our photographer was really cracking up taking photos so I think it was a good bonding moment with her, and now she knows how weird we are. I really cant wait to see how they turn out!! We want to share our engagement photos with friends/family online in an album with all the good photos showing up first, and then the cringey/awkward photos at the end.

Anyway, has anyone else had some less-than-ideal weather arise for their engagement photos and stuck it out? How did they turn out? We were in an outdoor nature area, so we ended up with some wet and grassy shoes but I think it was worth it. The weather ended up being better than predicted, and I think the cloudy skies will actually make the lighting better. All in all, I'm glad we kept the session even though it was supposed to be a downpour. In less than two week I'll be getting the photos back ❤

We had a tornado warning during our shoot lol. We found a super cute ice cream shop to take some photos and also brought a clear bubble umbrella for some outside photos.

Yes, we live about an hour and a half from Tahoe. The morning we woke up for our e-pic session it was pouring where we lived so we decided to drive a bit up the highway closer to Tahoe to see if we could find some snow. It only took about an hour before the rain turned to snow, at which point we pulled off the first exit and found a deserted national forest park. We got some photos but it was very cold and the snow was coming down hard. We sat in our car with the heat on full blast in between takes.
