Engagement photos tomorrow night... but it's going to be Cold!!!

Justine, on October 13, 2018 at 11:57 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 23

I have been so excited about this weekend for a while for engagement photos, because we specifically planned it for the fall color changing! (We are in Iowa, and this weekend is the peak weekend for the trees changing.) But the weather is looking like it's going to be COLD. Like, 20 degrees below normal October temperatures..... Smiley cry This would happen to us!!

One of our outfits is more formal, and I have a long-sleeved dress with a slit in the leg and strappy close-toed heels. Another outfit is a sweater and jeans, but I am wearing cutout boots (no socks). Any suggestions on how to stay warm and still enjoy taking our photos without changing up outfits at the super last minute?!?!?!

Maybe donit at the library. We are doing outs next week it is supposed to rain so my second choice is the library. I really want to get the shots at the garden center. We wanted to get married there but space is way to small. Anyways other then running in place oruying gand Warner’s and putting them in your shoes. The best I can say is do it indoors

I would take a blanket or jacket with you to wrap up in between shots, make sure that you have a list of any "must have" shots that you need, and just tough it out. Not much you can do at this point.

We’ve really wanted outdoor pictures. And not many buildings are open after 5 PM on a Sunday....

I was thinking about just adding a plaid throw blanket in as part of our photos! And I have a cute jacket that coordinates with one of my fiancé’s pullovers he is wearing... that’s maybe what we will do!!!

Justine, I don't know if this will help, but the day we took engagement pics the high was only 38. We live way down South so that is extremely cold for us. It dropped to about 35 by the time our photographer wanted to take our engagement pics. All outdoors. Now the casual outfits were fine, but we also had a 75 lb boxer in our lap. He helped us stay warm!! Lol! I had on a vest and was fairly comfortable. The formal pics turned out beautifully, but I froze my behind off. Ha! Ha! I had on a sleevless, lace maxi dress with a plunging neckline, lined only to upper-mid thighs. It was windy, but our pics are gorgeous. We were just so happy to be together we forgot about the cold wind. Best wishes! I'm sure your photos will be perfect!!

Oh goodness!! I’m glad you were able to enjoy it!! I really think we would have beautiful photos, but our temperature tonight will be a real feel of 25 degrees with wind and snow! It is going to rain first today, so we are hoping that doesn’t ruin anything for us... Our photographer has a backup date for us next Sunday if the weather doesn’t hold out. We are just playing it by ear at this point!

I also had to take my engagement photos in the cold (if I remember correctly it was warm like every single day up til our engagement shoot *eye roll*. I still went with planned outfits. I honestly just kept telling myself if models can take swimsuit pics in the winter I could handle these engagement pics. No one seeing the pics can tell you are cold ☺️

Real feel of 25° degrees is definitely COLD!! I spent a winter in Minnesota and have experienced -59°. Lol!! Rain on top of snow in my limited opinion is never good. You are prepared. I've seen some gorgeous engagement pics in snow. Just please be careful, I haven't Googled to see when frostbite can begin. Just know you'll be in my thoughts and I know your photos will be gorgeous, whenever you take them.

I kept thinking the same thing! If models can do it, so can I. Ha! Ha! Great minds! Yes, warm days then a cold front came in two days before. My FH took FOREVER to change into his formalwear. I thought it was odd that I changed more quickly than he did. When we were looking at the proofs he said, " I look chubby around the waist, think I shouldn't have worn that long underwear?" His waist is 31, but you could see the extra bulk. Guys!! *sigh* You are correct, no one cold tell I was freezing.

I am beginning to consider it... if the rain holds off and it’s just snow and wind we may do them and just have lots of cold memories in photos! We have until 2:30 to decide! But I think my FH wants to do them tonight still.

It was 12 degrees when we took our engagement photos outside. The photographer helped by keeping us moving. We took maybe two shots at each place, then walked, then stopped again. Also, a lot of our pictures involved hugging. It works cause it looks nice and we retained body heat haha

We rescheduled for next Monday morning when it will be 58 and sunny! It is wet and snowy the roads are bad. Im glad we won’t be miserable! Now my only issue is not getting my hair done since we are taking them at 8:30 AM and the salon isn’t open! I have crazy curls that don’t stay nice unless they’re salon styled... lol

Oh man! I wouldn’t have minded it tonight if it wasn’t just soggy and windy and wet and cold! It’s a bad combination of weather so we are happy we rescheduled.

I'm glad you rescheduled. I'm sure you'll look beautiful!! Is it possible you can do your hair the night before? Oh you said Monday! I don't know what to suggest, now. eeek! I have curls and I can get away with it, but I know everyone can't. I use the best products for curly hair. Brand name is Markham. They have a gel that totally tames frizz. Can't wait to see your engagement pics!

Oops, I did mean next Sunday morning!! Not Monday. I actually have a “spa day” next Saturday which my FH got me for my birthday, so maybe I can have them style it and I can sleep on it? Or have them give me style tips at least!

i can’t wait to share them! Smiley smile
