Engagement Photos

We are having our engagement photos done at a zoo this summer and I need help picking an outfit! Here are some ideas I'm thinking of. The animal print dress is the most me and my fiance's fun personality, but I've read that you should avoid prints. Here are some other ideas I was considering. I am short at 4 foot 10 and the Groom's outfit is not picked out yet. (Note that none of the pictures are of me in the dresses) Engagement Photos 1

I really like the floral navy dress! Flowy dresses (like the second to last one) also photograph really well!

I say go for the animal print dress! It’s adorable and it reflects the venue; but most of all, it reflects YOU! Engagement photos are all about celebrating you and your SO’s relationship! Why try to shove yourself into some generic box of what you “should” or “shouldn’t” do/wear for photos that should be capturing the spirit of your relationship?! The zoo is such a unique and playful choice for location, and the other dresses don’t reflect that playfulness like the first one. My best advice is to not overthink it and go with your gut!

With so many bright colors at a zoo (signs, flowers, etc), I’d stick with a solid color.

Are you allowed an outfit change? If so, I say go with the animal print (have your fiance in solid colors, that way it's not too much happening/clashing) and for the other go with something more classic. My FH and I did pics in fancy clothes, and they were not representative of us, so we felt more uncomfortable and the pictures look a little more forced and awkward. Once we changed into our second outfit, we felt way more comfortable and were able to have more fun. So I say pick the ones that represent you if you only get one, but go for both if you can!

I’d go with either of the navy dresses or #5. When you choose your fiancé’s clothes, go for a complementary color. Choosing the same colors will make you blend together in photos….plus, you don’t want them looking like family portraits.

Update: I already own the animal print dress and I have ordered the navey blue flower print and the white high low to try on. We are allowed 1 outfit change but we only have a 1 hour shoot. I'm nervous about changing with a short time for photos, expsecully when the zoo we are at is larger and we have to walk to different locations around the zoo. But I aregee the animal print is more us and playful but we would like try some more traditional looking photos as well, so I might go with an outfit change.

I vote the animal print dress. I did a print dress (Galaxy themed) for my engagement photos and they came out awesome. Definitely do what is most you. I'm obsessed with your photo location. They are going to be so fun!!
