Engagement photoshoot outfit debate

Taylor, on July 19, 2022 at 9:55 AM Posted in Parties and Events 0 12
Did anyone else not go all out with their engagement photo shoot outfit? My fiancé and I have been engaged since February 2021. We never did a shoot. We’re getting married in 81 days and decided a few months ago we wanted to do a shoot anyway and get to know our photographer a bit before wedding day. We’re doing it today and everyone always seems to get so dressy for it! It’s just not our style. I’m honestly wearing a pair of jeans, new white sneakers I just bought, and a slightly cropped, buttoned shirt I like with a tank top. And he’s wearing something very similar. I feel silly not dressing up and I tried to find something but just didn’t like myself in any dresses I tried! And I tried a lot. I’m just more comfortable this way. Did anyone else dress pretty casual for their engagement shoot?

For my first set of engagement photos (we did two sets just because when we postponed, we felt like doing a fun themed shoot for the second set), I wore jeans, a top that had some lace on it (yet was still mostly casual), and a denim jacket! Those photos turned out to be some of my favorite photos ever. I don't think you need to go fancy for engagement photos, I think it's more important that you feel like yourself in them and that you feel comfortable in what you're wearing. If that's a dress, great! If that's jeans and a T-shirt, great! I think what you have planned sounds like a good option!

You do you girl! Can be as dressy or casual as you like. For ours we had an outfit swap and did both we did a semi fancy one but my fave photos are actually the dressed down ones on a baseball field. I think we are a mix of both we are very sporty but also enjoy dressing up every once in a while so it was fun to do both. Have fun with it, I m not a big fan of having my photo taken which is actually why we did an engagement shoot (I was dreading it) but it ended up being so so much fun.

I feel you on that! Then my suggestion is definitely wear something you are comfortable in and just have fun with your fiancee during the shoot. Enjoy it and good luck to ya!

You can totally wear whatever you want! We felt more like "us" dressed up, so that's what we did, but I've seen a ton if people wear more casual outfits. Your pictures will look way more authentic if you're in something that resonates with you than if you wear something just because it's what you're "supposed to wear" Smiley smile

Honestly it’ll be 90° when we’re taking photos. I may just keep in the denim shorts I’m wearing lmao

I definitely agree with Lisa! Wear what you're comfortable and confident in. You don't want it to look forced. The best pictures I've seen is where the couple's chemistry and love really shine through, and not everyone can enjoy themselves when they're in heels or a dress. I haven't figured out what I'm wearing for ours, but I already know we aren't going dressy. It's simply not us. Your outfit sounds very cute, so I wouldn't overthink it!

I had my engagement shoot in October and I wore tight jeans and an oversized turtle neck sweater and booties. I also changed into a casual dress half way through. My fiancé wore khakis and a denim button down and casual boots/loafers.

I think having photos that reflect who you are as a couple is way more important than having photos with a vibe you think you “should” have. Whenever I see engagement pictures of couples doing something fun and different, those are the photos I remember.
