Engagement Pics- How long does it take?

Jillian, on October 26, 2016 at 11:31 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 10

We got our engagement pics done a little over 3 weeks ago and I'm SO eager to get them back! We love our photographer and he did a great job, but he said it would take a few weeks and I am having a lot of trouble being patient! He said he had weddings to finish up first, which I understand, but I'm wondering how much longer it will take! Anyone else dying to see their pics too?? For those of you who already did theirs, how long did it take for you to get them back?

We got a couple photos back the next day & the rest back a week later. Our photographer doesn't edit all pictures. She sent us the two she edited as a teaser the next day. A week later we got all the pictures & picked 20 pictures for her to edit. We got the 20 back edited about another week later.

Every photographer is different. I get mine out to my couples in a week or less. There are many factors such as their current workload. Three weeks is not unacceptable. Even four is not a huge deal, but if four weeks arrive, I would shoot them a casual email that just politely asks how they are coming along.

We got ours done Oct 1st. We got one teaser the next day. She told us 4-6 weeks. She actually just emailed this morning to say we would have them Sunday at the latest. She's been busy with lots of weddings and being pregnant. So I'm trying to be patient too!

I understand what you're going through. We got ours done Oct 15, and I'm (im)patiently waiting for them to be done. Our photographer told us 2 weeks for our sneak peak, and 4 weeks for the rest of them. She was on vacation last week, but I've been checking her website and Facebook every day to see if maybe she got them done early. I just want to see the pictures!

I got one sneak peek photo in 24 hours and got all the photos exactly one week later. My photographer was busy with weddings too, so I don't know what that excuse is about.

Also, this is his full time job. Maybe that makes a difference? Not sure.

Our photographer said approximately 2 weeks and to check Instagram for possible sneak peeks....It's been a week and a half and I'm checking Instagram like every hour lmao. Very eager and I know she's been working on weddings because she keeps posting freaking GORGEOUS pics from them. Not gonna lie, I keep worrying that our pics are so terrible that she doesn't want to post any lol. I would not be surprised if it takes a week or so longer than estimated.

Our photographer told us about four weeks. This is a very busy time for him. I'm very anxious to see how they turned out!

We had ours done Oct 2nd and have yet to see anything, I am dying for them though!!! Our photographer shot film though, so we knew it would be a little longer of a wait, but it will be worth it as film can capture some amazing things that digital just cannot do.

Again, all of the response above are valid. You can not throw every photographer into the same pot. There are so many factors involved such as experience, workload, any time off coming up or recently like vacations, etc. Trust me when I say, we photographers "ALL" understand how excited you are to see your photos. And what you don't know, is we are two. There is something to be said about the feelings we get when we see the beautiful photos, and what we feel when we present them to you. It's like giving somebody an awesome gift on Christmas morning. You can not wait to see the persons reaction.

So again, just sen a polite email asking how they are coming. I show about three teasers within a few days and present the entire shoot about a week after. But that's me. I have not always been this fast. As I've gained experience, I have perfected many things, including workflow. Expecting every photographer to be the same and get them out on all the same time frames is like expecting every bride to plan their wedding in the same time frame. It's not going to happen.
