Engagement pics in the rain

Brittany, on May 3, 2018 at 8:57 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 17

Has anyone had rain on the day of their engagement session?

Show me your pictures Smiley smile

I am supposed to have mine Sunday and there is rain in the forecast pretty much all day. I'm sort of bummed...I want to be cheered up with cute pics!

I have not scheduled photos yet so I had to consider rain. Maybe you can ask your photographer if there are nice covered locations like pavilions, or consider finding cute umbrellas that you can use for both props and protection.

I haven't had our pics yet so, nothing to share but, I'm sure you could find some cute inspiration ones on Pinterest.

Maybe look into ordering cute umbrellas or maybe colorful rain jackets and rubber boots. If you use Amazon Prime they will probably arrive in time.

I didn't but when I saw the title of the post my first thought was how cool!! I have one professional photo and it's was kind of rainy/drizzling the day it was taken, but I don't think you can tell how gloomy it was. I think there are a lot of cute things you can do with rain, I would search rain engagement pics on pinterest for some inspo if I were you

I would talk to your photographer. My photographer will reschedule if there is rain forecast for engagement photos. I think she'd prefer not to lug her expensive equipment around in the rain if she doesn't have to. Maybe your photographer would rather reschedule if that's okay with you? Or maybe you could find some indoor or covered locations? If your photographer does photograph in the rain, maybe they will have some photos from past clients. It never hurts to ask.

It rained on my wedding day, during my wedding... lightly at first... then much heavier... we eventually paused the ceremony for a moment to get an umbrella from our coordinator... we laughed and proceeded. Haven't gotten the photos back yet... but I think it will be cute with us sharing our simple, white umbrella. If we could get through a day full of rain, no sunset for pics, mudslides and a dress full of dirt and sand... we'll be able to get through anything...

They're engagement pics, have some fun with it...

I am waiting to hear from her Smiley winking she told me she'd be in contact today after she took a look at the weather to decide whether we'd be doing them in the morning or around sunset. But I checked and it's looking like time of day won't really matter...I would much prefer not to have pictures done in the rain. It's just not what I've pictured since I booked them. I imagined the bright sun setting and our silhouettes and all that lol. My only concern is that now we are in prime wedding season and I'm nervous these pictures will get pushed back for quite a bit because she's busy with weddings on the weekends. And weekdays don't really work for us. I have waited so long for them Smiley sad and now it's upon us...aaaand it's going to rain. Any other day leading up to the pictures? 80-90 and full sun. Thanks, Mother Nature. I'll remember this.

Yeah, I guess I'm going to have to head over to Pinterest to take a look.

    That picture is so pretty!

This is the sort of vibe we are going for...so rain doesn't really have any place here lol I really have my heart set on sun.

I know there is a gorgeous covered pergola where we are taking pictures, but I can't possibly take them all there. We may really have no other choice but to take them a different day if the forecast doesn't change.

The rain actually adds to the richness of the color in pictures so rain can be a good thing Smiley smile Make sure there are areas you can safely take pictures in and it will be beautiful

I very much understand making the best of it Smiley smile that is what we'll have to do if we choose not to/can't reschedule. Luckily, it isn't my wedding day and the possibility to reschedule is there.

I am getting married next April in NJ, so I am going in with the thought that it will rain! I am not letting myself think otherwise, and I am going prepared with the clear umbrellas and all.

But I don't want every single picture I take to be....wet lol.

I have no issues with clouds at all! I know pictures taken when it is overcast come out beautiful.

I'm just not trying to be drenched. That's not anything I'd want to frame. Just my opinion.

Thanks for all the replies! They are helping me to realize my best bet may just be to reschedule Smiley smile

We talked earlier this week to go over location (completely outdoors, FWIW, it's a park). And she told me she'd check in again Thursday (today) to decide on a time after she checks the forecast. So I'm just waiting to hear from her to see what she says first.

It doesn't help that literally every weather website is predicting something different Smiley tongue I don't know who to believe! lol

I had my bridal portraits in the rain and they turned out beautifully. You can definitely tell by the water that it’s raining but other than that they look great. It was also 30 degrees and I was freezing but hey I look good so oh well haha

Beautiful! How did your hair and makeup hold up?

My only thing is my hair won't be up, it's going to be down. I'm scared of the drowned rat look lol

My makeup did excellent but this was also my trial for the wedding and I had airbrush makeup. My hair on the other hand... lol. It wasn’t awful but pieces fell but I just tucked them behind my ears and you can’t even tell in the photos. A down style I’m not sure about. My hair is naturally curly so it would get sooooo frizzy if it was down.

For engagement photos you should be able to reschedule, assuming you can be flexible and work with the photographers schedule? i didn't have them taken so I really don't know much about scheduling those but it seems like something that should be totally possible.

It should be...I mean I know when I originally booked them all her Saturdays for May were booked up with weddings, and she offered me a choice of two Sundays. So I'm not sure what else has been booked up in the time since I booked. Weekdays are a common time to do engagement pictures but hard for us because we both work full time and have two little ones. Our weekdays are hectic and taking time off work is not really an option we want to have to resort to. I'm just hoping if we have to reschedule, it's not months and months from now Smiley atonished I was so excited for them
