Engagement Pictures: Overrated or Underrated?

Underrated and very special if you can fit it into your budget.

Underrated! It's something special you can keep forever.

For me they were overrated... until we had them done. I was NOT looking forward to it, but FH said we had to, it's what everyone does. We haven't even gotten them back yet but just the experience made me glad we did it! I feel like it's a good keepsake, and also, it will get us ready for all of the photos at the wedding!

I once thought this was overrated. But I think this is underrated. Its a great way to kick off your wedding festivities.

Underrated.
I specifically see engagement photos as a way to get to know your photographer and get comfortable working with them.
And its nice to have pro photos in normal non-wedding clothing.

Overrated yet so beautiful and can be used as save the dates

Underrated for sure! This starts the memories of your new chapter!

Underrated. I loved loved loved mine. We were so excited. This is supposed to be the only time you do something like that. Also the engagement photos were apart of the photography package, so it wasn't like I spent unnecessary money

I don't know what to rate these as. Overrated because it kind of is unnecessary but underrated because they are so cute ahah

Underrated. We weren't planning on doing them, but the FH surprised me with them. We used the same photographer who'll be doing the wedding and it made me so much more comfortable because it gave us a chance to work directly with him and see the end product.

I think they are right in the middle not over or under rated. You have so many options. You can DIY them you can go all out! You have so many options and I hear the experience for most people is fun. You even have the option not to do them at no bother to others. I think they rank where they need to be.

Underrated! I know quite a few people who didn’t do them because they thought they were a waste of time but it’s a lovely thing to have while you are still in the per marriage phase.

Underrated. It's something that can be memorable and a wonderful keepsake. How often to couples take pictures together in a professional setting after they get married. Can't wait to do ours.

Neither over or underrated. We were on the fence about doing them due to budget but we ended up getting them done for free (plus a nice tip) by a photographer who is branching off into the wedding industry. It was a short photo shoot. No outfit changes or anything dramatic. I was happy to just get pics of FH and I together because other than selfies we don’t have pictures together.

I think its nice to have some professional photos as a couple and they don’t have to be an elaborate production.

That's a hard one. I don't think they are underrated, since they are pretty much standard by now, but they are also definitely not overrated! I love mine and since my FH and I nearly never take pictures together it was the perfect opportunity to finally get some! Also they are such a great way to get comfortable with your photographer!

Overrated.

I think the standard "engagement pictures" are overrated. Our photographer calls this package the "alternate engagement session" where she takes interactive photos of couples doing a hobby they love, an event on their bucket list, formal attire sessions, etc. It was nice to have photos that weren't so "posed".

I HAVEN'T TAKE MINE YET....BUT I FEEL THAT IT'S EXPECTED AND THAT TO ME MAKES IT OVERRATED.

Underrated! I see it as a chance to work with and get to know our photograph s little before the big day, so hopefully we’ll be more comfortable, and also it’s the first time we will have ever gotten professional pictures together. I look forward to it.
