Engagement Pictures: Overrated or Underrated?

I think underrated. I have never had it done, not even the first time married. But, I already told my FH that I really want a small engagement photo shoot. So, my daughter and uncle are going to take the pictures.

Underrated! You can just see the genuine love and affection in these shots and they're gorgeous. Doing mine this weekend and I can't wait!!!

Overrated.

I think they are overrated and an unnecessary expense. In my case when my FH asked me to marry him we were getting some pictures made, like just fall pictures and in that photo session he proposed so to me that was like our engagement photos.

We've been together for 7 years and have so many pics from our travels and date nights already. We went to Disney World a week after getting engaged; we have tons of pics from the trip and great memories of celebrating our engagement!

I think they’re great for other people but we don’t really want them. So I’d say underrated for others but overrated for us

I love engagement photos - they used to be rarer but I honestly cannot wait to get ours done.

Underrated! In addition to being a great set of photos to have as a memory, for many people this would be their first time working with a pro photographer. I really wouldn’t want my wedding to be the first time I had photos taken of me like that because the discomfort sometimes shows in the poses and facial expressions

Overrated. They are another expense that I don't want we are opting out.

If the actual proposal was not photographed I definitely would have wanted engagement photos but since I have those I think it is unnecessary. So I personally feel over rated for myself but in general under rated....

Definitely underrated. Pictures are so important to me and they're such a nice keepsake. Plus, mine were included with my wedding package so why not?!

Overrated, we will have plenty of the pictures at the wedding so I think it’s unnecessary to get more professional photos only a few months before.

Underrated. I got mine done on a whim by an out of state wedding photographer needing models and I am so happy we got them done! It was free and it was super fun! I've used the pictures on my invites, my website and they are going to be used as centerpieces at my reception tables.

Underrated for sure, I love seeing them for friends and I cannot wait to get mine done

Underrated. Even if it is having a family friend take a few pics, its important to have something to denote that time in your life. They also become super useful for invitations.

My fiancé and I opted out of this. Our photographer was willing to give us a deal because we went to college together and my fiancé did some promotional work for him, but we said no because we’ve been engaged for well over a year now and we saw no point in it

Underrated to me, it was something I definitely didn't want to miss out on
