Engagement Ring to Silicone Ring….

I quit wearing my ring to work at the beginning of the pandemic because I was having to wash and sanitize my hands about a billion times a day! Sanitizer isn’t good for your ring, so I would take it off each time; and I was terrified I was going to leave it on the sink one day. So I just stopped wearing it. It’s been in a ring box in our safe for the last year and a half. I get excited every time we go out and I get to wear her now LOL

I wear a silicone ring whenever I workout or have dance rehearsals and also when I sleep. Basically any time I don’t want to wear my engagement ring I wear the silicone ring. When I’m not wearing my engagement ring I put it in a ring holder in my jewelry box.

I got a nice silicone ring off of Etsy to wear to the gym. It was about $8 dollars ($10 with tax and shipping) and has held up pretty well. Enso or qualo are also a good silicone band choice but are a bit more expensive. They do have a greater variety and a bit higher quality

I have a cheap one from Amazon I wore at the gym. The hand washing and sanitizer (I’m a dentist) was another reason I chose a wedding band that was just a simple gold band with no jewels so I could wear that at work.

I wear a silicone ring whenever I go to the gym, and go off-roading in our side by side. I got it from TJ Maxx actually. My husband wears a silicone ring most of the time because he's a mechanic. But even then he has to be mindful when working with certain things at work since he operates on heavy duty machines.

I'm an athletic director and run sports and fitness classes almost daily at my job. My husband is an active mountain biker, does most of the cooking, and is very handy and mechanical so does a lot of hands on house stuff. I wore a silicone ring throughout most of our engagement (bought it for myself shortly after he proposed) and probably close to 98% of the time after being married for a year and half. I made my husband get a silicone ring alongside his white gold ring for when we got married. He wears his silicone band most of the time and the metal one rarely.

Our metal rings are kept in nice ring boxes at home in night stands next to our bed and we mostly wear them exclusively for special occasions. With Covid, that's almost never, because we rarely go out to eat anymore, have fewer "fancy" events to attend, and are washing our hands all the time when we are at work or in public. I got my husband a nice wooden ring box engraved with our wedding date on it, and I have a velvet ring box with two slots to hold my wedding band and engagement ring. Both were ordered off Etsy.

I’m the same as pp, I keep my engagement ring in a ring box with my jewelry when I’m not wearing it. I bought a silicone one on amazon for any of my physical day to day wear. I like to go climbing, weightlifting in the gym, hiking especially if there’s any scrambling. I made the mistake of leaving it on once and the platinum got pretty scratched up so it’s definitely worth getting a silicone one. Depending on your job/what activities you enjoy, I would consider getting your silicone one a bit bigger than you think. When I go climbing my fingers swell up into sausages, sometimes I even have to take the bigger silicone ring off as it gets so tight on my chubby fingers!

I think your option for your ring is up to you. I don't care what the ring cost, we are simple as long as we are married and I have a ring that I like, it doesn't matter. You can also store your ring on your necklace if you really want it with you.
