Engagement Ring while Sleeping

Ladies question...do you wear your engagement ring to bed? I heard you shouldn't. Something about the 5 S of not wearing an engagement ring...shower, shore, sleep, don't know the other 2. What do you all do?

So my family is all jewlers so growing up I always was told how to “care” for my jewelry. The only time I sleep with my Ring is if I’m traveling. I don’t want to take it off to risk losing it or it being stolen (you never know) when I’m home I put it in a little ring dish on my night stand.

You should also never wash dishes in your ring or shower. Reason being, the hot water and soap and chemicals can actually dull the gold on your ring and actually make it dirtier Bc all of that gunk gets stuck in it.

I dont really take take it off to wash my hands throughout the day Bc I feel that’s a recipe for disaster.

    Hope that helps!

Well I never took mine off ( only had for 3 months) and 2 small diamonds already fell out. Back to Zales I went with my boxing gloves on because they tried to charge me for the repair lol

Having only been engaged for roughly a month (spending a week and a half without my ring, as it was being resized), I wear my ring virtually 24/7. The only times I take it off is when I go tanning, when I'm mixing meat, and when I'm doing heavy dishwashing.

I only wear mine when I go out. I put it in a safe when I go on vacation. I really take good care of it and be sure to remove it when cleaning, gardening, etc.

I like to clean mine a lot! So I have a mixture of part ammonia, part water in a dish by my sink! Sometimes I’ll leave it overnight, but usually it’s just when I take a shower! I like to wear my ring constantly!! I hate to take it off! But the other day I made homemade bread, and it got all dirty, so I’m trying to be more conscious when I cook with messy foods I’ll take it off - but other than that, wear that ring!!

Whoa, I have tons of little diamonds, and nothings fallen out! And I wear it washing dishes and everything! I would suggest getting more heavy duty prongs by a jeweler that knows what they’re doing! I’ve had diamond rings for years (inhered, gifted, etc), and I pay pretty close attention to the prongs, they wear down and you have to get them re-done every couple years,in my experience.

Seriously? I’ve had two small diamonds fall out as well and Helzberg repaired immediately. How much was your ring resized? Standard size was 7 for my ring and they sized it down to a 4.5. That much resizing can change how the small stones are held in. They told me that if another small diamond falls out they’re going to make me a custom ring in my size. That way the small diamonds are positioned properly so they won’t fall out so easily.

I’ve been wearing a small diamond ring every day for 15 years and nothing has happened so far. I’ve worn it to the beach, swim team in school, field work, to sleep, you name it.

I sleep with mine on and never had a problem with it. I take mine off to wash my hands, shower, cooking, or if I'll be doing anything that will get my hands dirty/soiled. I rarely take mine off. I would probably lose it if I took it off constantly.

I don't wear mine to bed, when washing dishes or in the shower. I'm too paranoid it'll snag the bedding and I'll lose a stone. I take it off when I do certain home projects too, like painting/sawing/etc. My hands get roughed up and to me it's not worth the risk of banging it on something or getting paint on it.

OMG so many comments here, but yeah I take mine off when I sleep, do dishes, shower, or put on lotions. I got a bunch of porcelain ring trays and have them all over.

I keep mine on at all times, EXCEPT for when I sleep. For some reason I sleep better with it off. I know it can't go far when I'm sleeping, but for some reason I just do haha. I guess I'm nervous I'll lose it between all the pillows and blankets. Other than that I wear it at all times.

I literally NEVER take my ring off. No exceptions. If its not sized correctly and Its not on my body...it will forever be lost. lol but that's just me. Honestly, I see no reason to constantly take them off anyway?

I take mine off when I sleep, workout, cooking or washing dishes, and showering. Or, if I'm doing heavy cleaning or outside work I won't wear it. I just worry about snagging it or losing it.

Mines is taken off as soon as I hit the door with all the other jewelry. By the end of the day, I want EVERYTHING off. lol
