Hey Ladies How Long Did It Take You To Get Use To Doing Things With Your Ring On? I Would Take It Off To Cook Or Clean Etc (I Didn’t want it to get dirty Etc 🙄🤣🤦🏽‍♀️) My Mother Saw Me Doing That & Said Yanna You Not Suppose To Do That The Ring Will Be Okay.

Anything skin safe I keep it on, but working with chemicals/ cleaning/cooking/showers I take it off because a: I have high anxiety about it going on the drain and b: anything not safe or harsh on skin to me wouldn’t be safe for the ring. I also don’t feel like getting food bits in my ring that has hard to reach spots lol

I've always been an avid ring-wearer, so wearing the ring itself was easy to get used to, though I still love staring at how sparkly it is! Now I have a wedding band to go with it.

However, I am super paranoid about getting my set dirty or losing a stone. I don't wear them around the house much -- because I'm always washing dishes here and there or cleaning, and I don't wear them in the shower or while sleeping. I always wear my rings when leaving the house, though.

I used to work in jewelry. You absolutely should be removing it for sleeping, cooking, cleaning, applying makeup, putting on lotion, swimming, showering, washing your hands, etc. You will damage it over time if you don’t. Plus, swimming with it majorly increases the chance of losing it. That goes for other jewelry pieces as well. You have no idea how many people lose stones and damage their jewelry because they do everything while wearing them. It’s not worth it if you want your jewelry to last forever and possibly be passed down to other generations.

I’m like leave it to me and soap to possibly lose my ring; I’ve heard horror stories- I’m all naaaahhh no chances, anxiety dictates this is a terrible idea.

I don’t even really wear it around the house because I’m always doing something. If I am wearing it I will take it off for washing dishes and showering, or washing my hands - not so much for cooking, depends on what I’m making.

I got use to it right away! I have a ring dish and keep it there when I work out, do heavy cleaning or cook messy food ( raw meat, kneading dough). I replace it with a silicone ring bc it feels weird not having anything on. If I’m just washing dishes or doing light cleaning I keep it on.

Belle, I do the same thing! I only wear it when I leave the house and with COVID I don't wear it very much because I rarely leave the house since I'm working from home. Lately, when I do leave the house I've been forgetting to wear it. My ring has also gotten loose since I've lost weight and it's been cold out.

Well, I was advised no to wear it when I have to keep sanitizing my hands with alcohol. It’s not good for the metal I heard.

If it’s platinum you don’t need to worry. It’s an extremely hard metal.

Well my ring, and most people's rings, are gold lol. Hence why I specified that gold is a soft metal. That said, platinum is not indestructible and can bend and scratch as well.

There is a jeweler upthread who likewise advised that people take their rings off to do abrasive activities. For the amount of money my FI spent on my ring, I can take it off to lift weights.
