Engagement ring

Yikes, I would not be able to trade in the ring I was proposed to with for a different style. There is way too much sentimental value behind it! My wife did ask me what style rings I liked before we got engaged, so luckily I love my ring. But if I didn’t, I would just save up money for a new one down the road, maybe as an anniversary gift.

I didn’t mention it at at the time because I didn’t want him to be upset. But then covid happened all our plans were ruined everything is still on hold or up in the air that I figured I’d like to start on a clean slate. that way when our wedding isn’t the wedding of our dreams I can at least have the ring I’ve dreamed of having. I guess that’s just a materialistic way of thinking about it and I should just drop the subject. I do appreciate your input though

View Quoted Comment I don't think you're being materialistic it's not just the value of the ring but the style. Gifts are about both the giver and the receiver...you should have a ring you like. Talk to him and see what he says. I think you should put it as you have here, wanting a fresh start.
