Engagement Shoot Timing

So I’m hoping to loose some weight before our engagement shoot but I also want to use our photos for the invitations. I want all RSVPs in by August 1st which means I would need to send it out around mid to late June. With this in mind when should I try to do my engagement shoot? I kind of was hoping...

I kind of was hoping to do it in summer but that I don’t think will happen due to turn around being on the slower end especially with wedding in full swing at that time. Part of me then thinks that end of Spring would be better, but my photographer only does week days for engagement shoots and that means it would have to be over spring break as I’m a teacher.
Do I just deal with the fact that I’m heavier than I wanted to be for the engagement shoot and get it done over the fall break (school starts next week for my district), or do I wait for spring break, or do I push it and wait till summer break?

I’m not sure if I would prefer that or seeing the raw images and then asking them to edit my favorites.

I believe our contract says 4-6 weeks but that's for the full wedding album. We were shocked when he said 1 week for engagements.

Probably because there were less pictures to filter through.

It's all different based on photographer. He doesn't show any raw images. We fully trust his abilities and know he's going to choose the best to edit.

I guess that makes sense. The photographer would have the better eye for good images and would not want to show any flops. Maybe the only exception would happen if you remembered a moment that you really wanted the picture from -- of those during the photoshoot.

This gives me a better idea what to expect.
