Engraving ideas?

Mrs. G, on January 7, 2017 at 5:09 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 15

Any ideas on what to engrave on our wedding rings? We just bought our rings today. My fiancé was saying how his father had "I love you" written in Latin. I'm just stumped on ideas.

Should I just have our wedding date? What do you think?

I was wondering the same thing when I bought FH's wedding band. This site helped because it has soo many ideas. I think the funniest was "Put Me Back On". I ended up going with "I'll love you always and forever". Good luck!

This is something that's super personal for you and your fiance so make sure that it's something you absolutely want to see for the rest of your lives and not just something that the majority of users on an online forum voted for. Just looking out for you! Smiley smile

Is your ceremony written yet? Maybe a little bit of your vows?

ETA - I'm still debating if I'm going to have FH's ring engraved - however, if I do it will say "Always worth the wait" - it's our joke that he takes forever to make a decision, but he always makes great decisions - and in the ceremony our officiant states how I feel that way, but I think he's always worth the wait

I know it's personal, I was just wondering what some ideas are so we can narrow down.

@Horsey if I was creative enough I would give you some but I'm drawing a blank here.

FH and I always say "I love you more than anything" to each other, so maybe we would do "I love you" in one of our rings and "more than anything" in the others ring.

I'm doing a short song lyric from a song we used to sing in the car early on in our relationship. It always makes me smile and remember when we first fell in love!

We discussed it before I ordered FH's ring, thinking that we would have identical inscriptions. We did not see eye to eye on what to put in there. I saw an inscription idea online that I liked, "challenge accepted." We were big HIMYM fans and the little girl who is our RB has the nickname "Bear," so we have a Ring Bear. I thought it was perfect. He kept suggesting stuff that was in old English.

FH wanted to be surprised by his band since he surprised me with my e-ring. He had given me ideas of what kinds of rings he liked, but I was supposed to make the final decision. He really liked the idea of a wood ring, so I got him a titanium ring with a wood inlay, and was able to customize it with his favorite type of wood, purple heart. From our previous discussions on ring inscriptions, I could tell he'd appreciate something a little more intellectual and sentimental, so I chose to go with something in Latin, since I've actually spent time studying it. "Perpetuum in corde meo." It means, "Forever in my heart." I love that the inscription mentions heart and that heart is in the name of the type of wood that is in the ring.

He still doesn't know, and I am dying to tell him about it, but his one thing was that the ring be a surprise, so I can't say boo until it arrives and I can show him in person. He kept my e-ring a secret for 6 months and I've only been hiding this secret since January 1st. I keep telling him I don't know how he did it.

If you can think of something that would make it personal, I'd recommend it. I was really struggling to narrow it down, too, until I realized how personal a Latin inscription would be from me.

I think it's best if it's something personal. For example, my friends started dating in high school when people would mouth "elephant ears" to look like I love you. That's what she eventually had engraved on her wedding ring as her husband still does that.

My e-ring has the date of my great grandmothers wedding in it, since it was originally her ring.

I'm hoping that we can find a venue that is open on the same date so I can get my wedding ring engraved with the same date, exactly 100 years apart.

I wrote "my perfect match" in FH's cause we met on Match.com.

My parents have been married 56 years and they have WAMLA

(With all my love always) in their bands.

They each sign every card they give the other WAMLA. It's super sweet.

Aw, yeah this is something personal but there are some really good ideas mentioned above. My husband and I are big into literature so we went that route and had "so it goes" enscribed in our bands but everyone is different, that's for sure. Smiley smile
