Enough Decorations!?!?

Abigail, on October 29, 2011 at 8:32 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 18

Am I the only one who keep thinking I don't have enough decorations and my weddings going to look "under done" or like the theme wasn't carried through enough...Maybe its just what comes with having a wedding. Anyone else, please say yes! haha

Its almost like I am doing all this work, and I get worried that its not enough for the space.

I'm sure it will be, but there's still that nagging thought.

Yep I am totally the same, especially since my bridesmaid told me she went to a function there recently and it was crap because it was under decorated!!!

    I hear you!

For me, I just feel like there should be more. I feel like I'm missing things and that I haven't thought of everything yet.

Except I can't think of a single other thing I might possibly need to think of. ANd then I wonder if it's because I don't want to have the cutting knife, the champagne glasses, the forks, the dress hanger, the programs, the rice or something, etc....

@Anna, I love weddings at home. I wanted mine to be at home but FH really wanted it to be in a church because he feels it honors God more. I feel God will honor us regardless of where we are married but went along with his thoughts. I love our church but it does mean driving on the day of (the day before as well to decorate) then packing everything up and driving it back home. Uggg

I totally feel that way! I have a whole tub and then some sitting in the basement, and i just feel like i need more. I dont know what im going to do with all the stuff i have yet, or what else i would need, i just need more! I dont have any big plans for decorations either. Its pretty stressing too considering im in the limbo of having time to decide and crunch time. GAH!!!!

Hi ladies here is a few tips on adding decorations but not over doing it! You can have centerpieces that involve a vase and water (picture attached below), surround the tables with colored stones or petals that match your bouquet. Chair bows with alternate color that match your bouquet is a great way to add color and fullness to decor. Also dont do too many large arrangements; they can be over powering and hinder the look rather than compliment. Visit us at - http://www.facebook.com/JeanniesFloralCreations

The venue I am hoping for (need to travel and see it over Thanksgiving... although I am trying to convince my FH to let me book it before hand because I'm scared of losing available dates and I'm 200% convinced it will live up to my expectations in person) is absolutely gorgeous. Our entire wedding will be outdoors, weather permitting, with the reception on the wrap around porches and patio that is covered by wisteria vines. Beautiful tall potted plants everywhere. So besides centerpieces and maybe a few other things, I'm mostly going to let the venue itself be the decorations.

We did 127 paper lanterns, 8 uplights, 24 candle centerpieces, backlit menus and signs, tablecloths, chair covers, sashes, and a canopy that went over our cake table. And I still found myself thinking of other ways to decorate.

In my defense, our venue was a grotty club in a converted warehouse, so we really needed to do something to decorate it. But still, I'm sure we could have left out half that stuff and it would have been fine.

The only thing we did was centerpieces for the tables. I just couldn't stand the thought of packing up everything to take, setting it up and then having to bring home everything- there was plenty of that already! Now, we were lucky that our venue was nice enough, but it was not at all "wedding-y"...the indoor room was just your regular banquet type of room.

Plus, no matter what I might have wanted to do, I didn't have the money anyway :-) so that helped make the decision easier.

Keep it simple! It all depends on what your venue is like, but just about anywhere can be simple and beautiful, you be the best decoration!!!!

I've been thinking about it as well. I plan to do centerpieces for the tables and some other things. I don't want to overcrowd the table and I don't want to under decorate it if that makes sense.

I TOTALLY have the same feeling.

This is the venue we finally picked out.

The room is rather neutral, which is not a bad thing. However, my colors are purples and greens and I would really like them to feel something when they come into the reception! Not a "Oh we are going to sit down and eat now" feeling. If that makes sense. I want "WOW!" not "oh".

Colored linens make a big decorative impact, as does lots of twinkle and candlelight; they'll show up well in overview photos. Once your guests enter the space less decor won't be that noticeable. If doing your own remember that setup and teardown eats up precious hours you might be billed for, and you'll need to line up helpers for hauling items away.
