Envelopments

Ashley, on August 18, 2011 at 6:20 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 14

Has anyone used them? I met with a designer last week and LOVED the invites but not the $1000 bid to do the work. I guess I'm torn because I love them but the price seems so steep. Thoughts?

I guess I'm not sure what you are asking... is the picture an example of the invitations you like? Definitely not worth a grand in my book.

That's not to say that I don't think a grand is outrageous for invitations if they are spectacular, or that I don't think the invites in the photo are ugly. They simply are not $1000 invitations to me.

That's CRAZY. I don't care how many people you're inviting. Mine are awesome, unique and cost less than 300 bucks.

Ok seriously, unless a little man hops out of the envelope and makes me a freaking cappuccino, I'm NOT paying a grand for invites.

But that color is pretty lol. I'm pretty sure you can get something close to that template for a price that's more reasonable.

150 guests and I need 100 invites. The picture is a mock of the ones she designed for me. They would have starfish and pretty fonts. I couldn't get that version to upload. 1K also includes the save the dates. The quality is excellent- which is obviously hard to see in a computer drawing of the invites.

I was asking if anyone had any experiences with invites through envelopments and if anyone had any other suggestions. Maybe something in between a grand and vistaprint Smiley smile

IMHO $1000 is WAY to much for some paper and ink. I understand why people sometimes spend hundreds on special invites, but even that seems high for me personally. But to each their own Smiley smile If you truly feel they are spectacular and if they are worth that much to you, then go for it!

I used to use some Envelopment brand stocks and I had looked into becoming a dealer for them. They have a lot of rules, high minimum orders and yearly fees that are unaffordable for small businesses, so for me it wasn't the right fit.

Are their papers beautiful?? ASOLUTELY! But many of their metallics are the same colors as stardream and curious metallics, they just name them differently. Some papers are exclusive to them. But more often than not, I can get patterned papers, pocket styles etc, from the other suppliers I use.

If you want to do pocket fold style invitations, it doesn't have to be an Envelopment brand and that will save you a lot of money and you will get the same quality stocks.

I think it might be too much for me. Does anyone have any suggestions of more reasonably priced invites?

You're paying about 90% for the work and 10% for paper/ink/printing. I'm a graphic designer and continuing graphic design student. (gotta keep getting degrees!) Thankfully, I'm doing my own so that cuts out the cost of the designer. I guess I could charge myself and throw that money into the honeymoon! Seriously, source out some paper. My favorite is http://www.paperpresentation.com/ They have everything you need for the paper, envelopes, pocket cards that you have in the pic. You can get the whole set up, invites, pockets, STD's, envelopes for about $220 depending on the size and style you chose. They have pocket cards, they're a little different. Find a printer that's local and does invites. Stay away from big box stores like Staples and Office Max. Find a smaller shop that has more options and allows you to use your own paper. That's where the cost is for most printers.

You can find inexpensive designers here:

    https://www.odesk.com/contractors/title/graphic+Design?vt_cmp=buyers_lowltv&vt_adg=graphic_design&vt_src=google&vt_med=text&vt_kw=graphic%20designers&gclid=CKGW96GY2qoCFYLd4AodIheZ8A&_redirected

Request the work be sent to you in JPEG, minimum 300 resolution. Hope this helps a little. $1000 bucks isn't that high for what you're asking but you can get it done for much less. I love doing this stuff! Have you asked the designer if she'll just do the design, not including the paper? That could save some cash too. Hope that helps!!

Yes I think that you can definitely find a better deal. If that is the design that you love we could design and create it for you for a more affordable price including save the dates. Just let me know if it is something you are interested in. Even if you choose not to use us a think you can find something similar for better price. Just might require a little more searching.

I might be crazy, but I'm not sure what's the difference between these and any other stationery. Can you not mix and match with any other vendor if you choose?

The envelopments look really nice, I'm just not sure why they're so different.

You can buy the paper and make your own if you like the "envelope" style.

Or, you can just include one small enclosure card to send people to your website where they will find all the same info. Not to mention, I'm sure it's more postage for the weight of that invitation. I was able to use a regular first class stamp b/c I didn't pack the envlope.

If vendor here is offering the same for less, TAKE it! You're paying $10 per person (assuming that is not including tax!) just to INVITE them to your wedding where you'll be paying at least another $25 per person to FEED and even more to quench their thirst and think of all the other stuff you need to pay for!

You can also look on Etsy.Com, I know they have plenty of beautiful invites for far less and I'm sure they could customize them for you! As for Save the Dates, I highly recommend you don't go all out on them. honestly, hardly anyone (if anybody) will actually SAVE your invite, it will go in the garbage probably sooner than later.. something like a STD magnet that you can get for CHEAP on Vistaprint.com or even free might stay up on their fridge longer than the life of your invite.
