Escort Cards or Seating Chart?

We are doing a seating chart only for the main family of the bride and groom since we are have a non-kid friendly wedding minus our kids and nieces and nephews their table will also be assigned, Friends and extended family will pick their own seats!

Neither. I don’t want to do the work AND honestly don’t care where people sit. I’ll reserve tables for bridal party near the sweetheart table and maybe one for immediate family. The rest can sort themselves! Risky I know but we are all family!

Probably a seating chart as that would less wasteful. Maybe we will change our minds.

Leaning towards the escort cards as they seem to be fairly cost effective.

I’m actually really confused about what the better option would be. I feel like a seating chart is kind of ridiculous since it will just go in the trash after, and we’re having probably 150 guests. Are they all going to crowd around one sign to find their seat?. At least people sometimes take the escort card with them. We might attach the favor to an escort card. Really we’re undecided but I’m leaning towards escort card.

I loveeee the look of seating charts! But with our venue, we were told it wasn’t great for flow (small entrance, long line of people searching for their name) so we did escort cards

My sister is making a seating chart, with tables themed after things we like (GOT, Disney, etc)

We haven’t decided on this but I’m thinking to do both just because of my theme lol.

It will have the letter of last name A-B and so on with the full name under and table number next to each name. Although, I think having it by table looks a little cleaner the alphabetical order looks nice as well.

A heads up to those that have chosen meals for each guest : you might need to indicate the meal choice at each place setting so escort cards may be a better option. I didn’t think of this and have to have placecards with names and food choice on them at each setting. Would have been more budget friendly to just have the escort cards. But I wanted the big ornate seating chart 🤗

I would prefer everyone to pick their own seats. It's not the first day of school where everyone has to introduce themselves to new people and make new friends, ya know. They can do it on their own if they so choose. I rather just not have to deal with the hassle of getting any complaints for any reason.

We are doing a combination of the two. Seating chart at cocktail hour so guests know what table to head to, then place cards on the table so they know where to sit. We are not letting people pick their seats lol.

I'm not having a seating cart at all. Our guest will pick their own seats. I dont feel like its right to pick their seats!!

I'm planning on escort cards. We will have way too many people for a seat yourself situation. This way couples and families won't be broken up or scooting in a chair. We're just doing escort cards though, not place cards. I think people can choose their own seats at an assigned table lol. I feel like seating charts are too much hassle. I'm planning to go the Hobby Lobby route and just print them at home.

I think we're going with escort cards. We definitely want to have assigned tables for everyone, and I feel like it'll be easier for everyone to find their names with them in alphabetical order.
