Are you having a plated meal where guests have to select a meal choice with their RSVP? If so escort cards will be easiest. It will indicate their meal choice and table number and they can select a seat at that table. If you’re doing a buffet or family style either is fine! But escort cards make it easier to make last minute changes!

We are doing a buffet and our set up is made up of several farm tables with a few round tables. So we opted for only reserve seating for family and friends may sit wherever they choose. I attended several weddings already this year that opted for no seating chart and it worked out great!

IMO I feel like trying to find your name in a sea of cards is too difficult, I went with a chart on an ease Smiley smile

We are having a buffet, and we decided to do a seating chart by table with the names listed. I think this will work best for my guests due to lots of families with children needing to sit together; however, a seating chart isn't always necessary for a wedding with a buffet.

We decided to do seating cards instead of the chart. Worried about too many last minute changes.

We are doing a plated meal, so we had to go with escort cards with meal indicators. Had that not been a factor I would have gone with the seating chart. Its easier for guest.

I'm doing place cards with wine corks at the table and then a seating chart painted on a canvas. I'll write the names on there a couple days before. I think the canvas is a great idea. Escort cards take up so much space.

Well i am having a plated meal with dinner options so I need an escort card for each person that will indicate their meal choice. A chart may be easier/less expensive but it's not really an option if you need to convey dinner choices to the serving staff.

We haven’t decided yet. I can’t make up my mind. I was going to do place cards and a seating chart, but that’s so much extra work.

We are doing place cards since it's easier to rearrange and modify names and/or table assignments if need be.

You can always do both! I just went to a wedding where they had the escort cards but then also had a seating chart that matched their theme outside the reception doors.
