eta of Pro Photos?

Sarah, on October 8, 2019 at 11:53 AM Posted in Married Life 0 12

We got married on 9/21 & I loved my photographer--she was great to work with and I'm DYING to see how our photos turned out. 2.5 weeks have gone by, and the shop owner hasn't responded to either my thank you email or the message I sent asking how long until we receive our photos. Should I be worried? How long did it take for you ladies to receive the digital copies from your photographers?

It took a week to get 121 photos back from our hour and a half engagement shoot, but I know our wedding will be close to 1000 photos. Is there anything in your contract stating when you will receive the photos? I've heard of it taking up to two-three months with a sneak peak 3-4 weeks after the wedding. It really depends on how busy your photographer is with other weddings before yours and how many photos they took.

Our sneak peak came out the next day (5 photos) but all the photos took 5 weeks. I'm assuming your contract says how long it will take? Ours promised them no later than 8 weeks and we got 1,200 photos.

It took us 4ish weeks to get ours. The photographer verbally told us 2 weeks but contract said much later.

Our contract says 6-8 weeks and says nothing about sneak peeks so I assume we’ll be waiting the 6-8 weeks for all our photos.

This is something that’s important to discuss ahead of time, but I wouldn’t be “concerned” yet as very little time has passed. My photographer promised them in 6 to 8 weeks . She also casually mentioned that she usually tries to get a sneak peek out ...but it’s a good thing I didn’t hold my breath for that. She DID post a sneak peek....at 6 weeks, and the same day she reached out to say she was dropping a thumb drive with all our pics in the mail that day

We just got our sneak peeks (220 pictures! I thought sneak peeks were going to be like, 15) almost 4 weeks after our wedding. Our contract says all photos back within 4-6 weeks, so I imagine the rest won't be until closer to the 6 week range. I got nervous about lack of communication too but it ended up working out. If you're really worried you can always try calling.

Typically wedding photos, due to the sheer volume taken (**** on average) and editing, take anywhere from 6-12 weeks to finish. If your contract says 6-8 weeks it does no good to start panicking about them before then because they are well within their legal boundaries to not have them finished or ready for viewing yet. Most reputable photographers won't show their work before they are ready since those final images are what has their name associated with them. They won't (or shouldn't anyway...) just half a** it to get the photos out before they are ready. Additionally, most photographers are doing more than just your wedding during that processing time so it's best to not get too concerned that you haven't heard anything after a couple weeks. If you are 6-7 weeks in and still have heard nothing, then by all means contact them and inquire about your photos.

It can take between 2-6 weeks for most photographers, especially if they are busy. I just got mine back yesterday and had our wedding 3.5 weeks ago

Daughter, unexpectedly, received 50 sneak peek photos about two days after the wedding, and then everything else (1100+ photos) as promised in her contract at about 11-12 weeks. From what I've seen in WW posts, the "normal range" is HUGE and varies so much. If it's not in your contract, I'd ask your photographer for an estimate, but expect you're just going to have to be patient since they didn't commit to a specific time frame in advance. Hang in! Smiley heart

I got married on 9/14 and have only gotten one sneak peak so far. Trying to be patient here. Smiley smile

Thanks all--glad to hear there is a huge range but some of you received your photos early. Since posting this, our photographer emailed us back to let us know he expects about 3 weeks. Phew! Was expecting this, I guess, but got nervous when so many people were posting "Pro Bam" threads a week after their weddings.
