Jennyfer, on June 6, 2017 at 6:47 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 15

Were doing 2wks in Europe for our honeymoon and the Travel Agent wants to know our budget, what do you all think would be a good amount for a budget?

A budget you can afford is the best budget.

Where in Europe are you going? Budgets can vary widely... We are going to Spain for two weeks and I am estimating our costs to be about $8K. But I splurged on nicer hotel rooms. It can certainly be done for less.

When we first chose 2 weeks in Europe we determined $10,000 for a budget. We decided to go elsewhere because 2 weeks off just isn't feasible in my job!

I don't have a travel agent but when I looked at what we want to do, it was between 4-5k for 13 days.

ETA: That was just flights and hotels. Not spending money for food and other things.

Your choice of cities are not cheap for Europe. Not the most expensive but not cheap at all.

I'd budget at least $7-$10k for the two weeks. Including flights etc.

$10k is a good starting figure including airfare.

European hotels are not inexpensive by any means and those are very expensive cities.

Also, if you're leaving right after your wedding, that is the holiday season so things are even higher priced.

You will have to budget your own money for meals, sightseeing and shopping.

We are going to Italy for two weeks and budgeting $9-10k. But you could do it way up or way down depending on what you can afford/are willing to spend!

We live in Germany and travel often in Europe ( because everything is close and it is cheap).

A really nice Hotel costs about 100 Euros ( i usually book with a booking website and get good deals). Travelling by plane from Paris to Amsterdam is between 54 and 109 Euros and about the same between Rome and Paris ( I just checked for Dec 2017 and Jan 2018 on tuifly.com

).Are you going to your honeymoon in December? If so, it could be unbelievable cold and rainy. Hope i could help.

I see a lot of really high numbers being thrown around on here. I mean of course you can easily spend a ton if you have expensive tastes but don't get discouraged if that wasn't what you intended to budget.

My one week trips to Europe have usually set me back about $2k with spending money. However, in each case about $1k of that was flights. Flights to Europe have come down SO much recently I would think it would be feasible to do a 2 week trip for 2 people at $5k total (staying in mid range hotels and not pinching pennies too much).

Edited to add - Sorry, I didn't look up your location until after I posted so I may have underestimated your airfare costs. I still think you can do it for way less than $10k though!
