On my FB page I posted the following story and picture...the response I got from a guy was this: "There is no excuse for obesity" It really angered me! On my FB page I posted the following story and picture...the response I got from a guy was this: "There is no excuse for obesity" It really angered me! There are so many women out there who struggle with how they look and fit in with society...and it's people like this guy who make the struggle more difficult! Needless to say, he was removed as a 'friend' on my FB.

Here's the story:

A while back, at the entrance of a gym, there was a picture of a very thin and beautiful woman. The caption was "This summer, do you want to be a mermaid or a whale?"

The story goes, a woman (of clothing size unknown) answered the following way:

"Dear people, whales are always surrounded by friends (dolphins, seals, curious humans), they are sexually active and raise their children with great tenderness.

They entertain like crazy with dolphins and eat lots of prawns. They swim all day and travel to fantastic places like Patagonia, the Barents Sea or the coral reefs of Polynesia.

April to be honest with you, just because you say he doesn't have the right to do it, doesn't mean he doesn't, because in fact he does, he has the right to judge anyone he wants to whether he knows their life or anything like that, if he wants to judge you or anyone else, he can, and as you can see he will...

But you are wrong Mrs. Covington, it is good to love yourself no matter what, but you shouldn't be happy if you are obese because if you REALLY loved yourself you would try to get your weight to a healthy level to extend your life as much as possible.

And April you are wrong, we live in a free country and I can think whatever I want about anyone. What I think about someone is judging them, I don't care what you have gone through or is going through because I've had my own stuff to go through just as you have yours, you still are who you are and as much as you can judge me (like Future Mrs. Covington calling me an obscene word) I can judge you.

Glenn as much as i would like to call you a dirty so and so your right your thoughts are all your own and the fact that you voice them is your right also. I agree with Mrs Covington. We should love ourselves no matter what.

Oh Glenn. I had to respond while watching my dear yankees try to score. Fatties? Brilliant. Bottom line is you have your right to your opinion but don't ever think that you can look at an overweight person and know their medical history or what they do day to day. Your life is your own and so is theirs. Just because you seem to think their not as good as a size 2 doesn't mean they aren't.

I was suspended for using obscenity, if you look back I have used no obscenities, unlike you.

Also if you will actually read what I said you will see that I say you should love yourself and that if you really did love yourself you would do everything in your power to get healthy (which usually means losing weight).

See I swayed you from the topic of the discussion...I got you thinking of your panties, I'm guessing you probably even looked at them to see if they were pretty...I know mine are pretty...but they aren't in a bunch...

Glenn...what you stated is that you should love yourself, but you shouldn't love yourself if you're obese...there is a huge difference between saying what you just said "you should love yourself and that if you really did love yourself you would do everything in your power to get healthy" and saying that "you shouldn't be happy if you are obese." Again, as I stated, there are tactful ways of expressing your opinion instead of being a jerk.

You should love yourself but that don't mean you have to be happy with your weight (or your education level or your attitude or whatever).

My bestfriend is thick. She has always been that way. she doesn't sit at home and eat everything she can find, in fact, I eat wayyyyyyyy more than her, but I have always been slim. Women bodies are different. We all have different genes and different things that make us the way we are. See, when ignorant people see a thick/bigger woman, they automatically think that all she does is stuff her mouth with food and doesn't work out, but that is so not true. My bestfriend works out, and doesn't even eat much. but she is thick because God created her that way! We are all beautiful...

Future.Mrs.Mak sometimes with really skinny people they are judged just like those who are bigger but in the opposite way, they are told they don't eat enough even though some of them could eat everything in sight and still not gain a lb...

THANK YOU!!!! I am constantly judged, people tell me, "OH GOSH u're too skinny! Eat something!" I guess people think I don't eat, but I eat more than any of my family members or friends. Some people r just ignorant I guess.... or when I go work out, they say "OMG you're trying to become a stick?" I don't work out to lose weight, I workout to stay in shape. You can be the skinniest thing on earth but be so outta shape...

    10 cents:

The ad campaign that elicited that response is awful. It will only alienate the people that the gym should be trying to recruit and help. It will drive away customers. Bad campaign.

The model looks fine. I've got a few rolls myself when I sit like that. She's a tall, curvy girl. Could she be thinner? Sure, and if she's not Glenn's cup of tea, well, Glenn is engaged.

Speaking as someone who shed 20 lbs for her wedding, gained back 8, and is working toward losing another 20... speaking as someone with an OBESE mother (not just overweight, truly obese)... speaking as someone who has struggled and probably will struggle with weight my whole life... I can see where Glenn is coming from. I love myself. My husband loves me. I don't think I look bad, but I think I could look (and feel!) better. That's a reasonable, healthy attitude for someone 20 lbs overweight. I will lose it in my own time and on my own terms, just like I'm sure Glenn lost his weight.

NOTHING that I have said or that Glenn has said indicates that the ideal woman is stick-thin... only that our country does have a weight problem and that saying so shouldn't be cause for a firestorm.

Curves are gorgeous. But ladies, be honest. Obesity causes problems. I worry quite regularly that my mother will not see her grandchildren. Be honest. You know this is not healthy:

Oh, but also? Calling people 'whales' or 'fatties' or whatever is just lame. Glenn is jerkfully blunt sometimes. Asshat. Smiley winking
