everyone with "peekaboo" diamonds..

*~WiiFeY~*, on May 27, 2010 at 9:37 AM Posted in Planning 0 40

While looking at the "show off your ring" post, I think a lot of us realized that this whole peekaboo diamond thing is pretty popular.. I thought I had something special! Haha Smiley smile Anyway, so I thought I'd ask.. Have any of you found bands? I have tried on a few and can't find anything that fits together with my ring, because the diamond creates a gap between them. I want something that will fit together perfectly, but can't.

I realize I need something with a dip in it, which I've tried on, but they're all diamond bands and not cheap. I'd be happy with just a plain white gold band, because I don't plan on wearing my wedding band very often. I'm not really a ring kind of person and having 2 rings will drive me crazy, so I'll probably just wear my eng. ring. But I still want a band (I will wear it sometimes) but can't find 1! So have any of you found bands that work?

I'm attaching a picture of my ring with the diamond, and the kind of band I tried on.. But its a diamond one.

Oh, and I guess I should add that I need something pretty thick. Because I tried on my sisters really thin band, and my engagement ring pretty much swallows it lol My e ring sticks off so bad that it hides the band.

A lot of people get their rings sautered together to close that gap. Have you thought of doing that? It will make your rings one! Smiley smile

Yay for having the same ring!!! I'm pretty sure this is the band I got, its hard to tell on the internet and with the ring not in front of me... oh and have you though of having your band and eng. ring sautered (sp) together, so that it's more like 1 ring instead of 2, that's what most people do.... anyway here's the picture

Erica, I wasn't either until I got my e ring and my fiance said "those are peekaboo diamonds!" haha apparently the jeweler told him all about it Smiley smile Its that little diamond on the side view of the ring shown in the picture.

My ring has six peekaboo diamonds, three on each side. and also has scroll detail on the sides but I went with a diamond band with baguettes, my e ring has those on the band. and it fits perfectly and i got mine for 250. I on the side faces me, if you will, is covered with the band but I can't wait to wear my band, it doesn't bother me. How big is your ring, diamond wise, hope that is okay to ask? (hope that all makes sense, tired)

Amber- we have the same ring AND might have the same band, because those are the ones i tried on at kay! Smiley smile i want to look around, but then again i feel like it would make more sense to get the ring/band from the same store, ya know? who knows, i might just have to go look somewhere else. because the lady at kay was RUDE last time i went anyway! i wanted to try on one that had round diamonds in it (like the one in the picture i posted) just because it was about the size that i needed (you couldn't even tell its round diamonds anyway) and the girl was like "no you can't try that on it doesn't match your ring, it isn't princess cut" and i was like "well i just wanna try it on to see if i like the size, and the stupid woman wouldn't let me! she was like "no.. you need to try something like this.." so she handed me a princess cut diamond band, that was $200 more expensive. she just wanted to make more money.

tori- yeah, thats been my problem. everything that is small doesn't work. (cont)

My fh got my e ring from helzberg and I went there to look for my band because i felt i should get both from the same store but didn't fall in love with any, i could have settled for one. And i figure I don't want to settle on something im wearing for the rest of my life. So i went and looked at all the stores in my area and found the perfect one, but it on and knew. sorry im babbling

Just remember if you get the band and the e-ring saudered together and something happens to one they have to send in both sense they are permanetly attached. I was going to do the same thing until my MOH brought that point up! I hate going without my e-ring so that was a deal breaker for me.

My fh got my ring in the diamond district in NY. When we went to look at bands I ran across the same problem. My jeweler suggested filing down one side of the band (but I don't have a peek-a-boo) so that the rings can be closer without having to get a custom made band. Worked perfectly and they did it on site for free (we bought the band that day).

My ring is 1/2 ct but I am very happy with my ring. We rather pay off the debts before we get married. Beside we are planning to get nicer rings at 20th year anniversity :-) Your ring is so pretty Katie!

Yeah, i dont think i want them sautered :/ because i never usually wear rings anyway (im finally used to my e ring!) but they always seem so bulky and awkward on my hand, so TWO rings would drive me crazy.

LOL well my wedding brand will be so thin that when it is next to my engagement ring, it will look like it is one ring.

I thought I was special with my peek-a-boo diamonds as well!! No one else that I've shown it to has one or has seen one--so I still feel special. I just think that because we are all getting married right now and it seems to be pretty "in" that we have the same thing. lol. Anyway, I was actually literally just thinking about this last night!! It's going to suck because with a wedding band, my peek-a-boo diamonds will be covered. Well, on one side anyway, unless I decided to get a band where my ring goes in the middle of (you know what I'm talking about, right?). I also am going to have a hard time as well because the jeweler that we got my ring from isn't carrying designer rings anymore and since my ring is a Verragio, I wanted the matching band. But we definitely want to use the same jeweler again so we have to find something that matches. And the thing is, I want a band that matches the little diamonds along my band already. I'm not picky or anything ;-)

Ugh, heavnsent, I know exactly how you feel. I have a while, so I'm not going to stress about it. But I'm picky too. I don't want to cover my diamonds either, but I want a pretty band. And sine my ring is from Kay, I feel like getting a band from Kay would be the best option because it would be by the same people, ya know? I just want something that will fit together well, but can come apart from each other if I want to just wear the band, or just wear the e ring..
