Ex Boyfriend is getting released from Jail next month

STB Mrs Van Blargan, on September 10, 2010 at 12:42 PM Posted in Planning 0 27

Im alittle worried because he is psycho. He went into jail when I was dating him in the 9th grade. He has been in there for like 6 years. I just want to hear from people and see what they would do? I dont think I am going to live my life in fear or change the way I live but I will be more aware and alittle more frightened to be alone. His parents live like 5 miles away and his sister works at a gas station that we always stop at.

Well plz tell me what you would do in my situation. I have a little guy and we plan on going trick or treating next month, with FH.

Forgot to mention, that he knows where all my family lives except me.. And he will be on parole after he is released.

I knew it was coming soon and it always scared me. I am alittle scared because he is just not a good person.

There are a practical few steps you can take, change your gas station; avoid his house or his relatives houses while trick and treating; lock doors; but as you said, you are not going to live in fear.

He isnt supposed to come near me when he gets out of jail. Because he was in jail, over me, my sisters and my friends. I dont know where they live, I just know they live somewhere in our near by city (I live in a town outside the city.)

I'd do what Brian said and try to get a restraining order against him.

Never threatened me but he has tried several times while he was in jail to get in touch with me, even though he wasnt allowed to have contact.

The last time he was released from jail and was told to stay away from me, he called me and went to my school. He was then picked up by the cops for that and was in jail until next month.

Did he go to jail because of something he did to you? I mean, personally, if he went to jail because he did something like rob a gas station, I probably wouldn't worry about it. If he went to jail because of something he did to me personally, it would probably depend on what it was he did. Honestly, if he did something that physically hurt me in some way, I'd probably have a weapon handy. Now I'm not saying that you necessarily have to get a gun, but a can of wasp spray will shoot 20-25 feet and will burn like hell if you get it in the eyes. You have to go to the hospital to get the antidote. So I'd probably have a can beside the bed and one in the car. Just a thought.

Yes, he went to jail for something that he did to me, my sisters and friends. We were all underage and he had nude photos, that the police found on his laptop in his van.. He showed every guy he knew those photos and what not. everyone was under 15, he was 19.

Brian I believe you are right but the problem with the Megans Law site is there are so many who don't keep their addresses current---or even register for that matter. Smiley sad So if his address is listed, it may not be where he actually lives.

Definitely get a restraining order if possible. At the very least make the police department aware that you are all fearful for what he may do.

Angel, I know you didn't ask for this, but know how brave I think you are! I can't even begin to imagine what you went through and what you must be feeling. I'm sorry you have to go through this!

So many gave really great advise, getting pepper spray, notifying the police and getting a restraining order if you can.

Consider taking a self defense course, this can help you feel a little more empowered.

And call the police EVERY time he does something that's in violation of his parole....whether it injures anyone or not. If he calls you, call the police and let them know. If he's seen driving in your area, call the police. Make sure there's a paper trail that can get him sent back to jail if need be.

Angel you are smart to be concerned. Unfortunately there's not much you can do but be watchful and just wait and see b/c as you said, you don't know his frame of mind. Go on the website for your state corrections department and see if they have a victim notification program. If so, you can sign up to be notified when he is released. I don't know if he'll be assigned a parole officer until he is actually released. If you live in a small town, you might not be able to avoid running into him at some point. But I would definitely make it a point to avoid places you know his family frequent/work. Time will tell. In the meantime just be watchful.

Not to be a downer but I have tried to get a retraining order on an ex and I was told by the police that unless he threaten to physically harm you there is nothing you can do. Just keep that in mind. Also I know this sounds silly, but if you are on facebook, make sure you don't have photos of your house or your address on there. Also I have had to do all this, this is why i know, make sure that he doesn't have any mutual friends, and block him if he gets on there. I had to ask people that wanted to be my friends to delete him(an ex) before I could add them. Little things you can do. Hope that helped some
