Experience with Hebeos, Tbdress, etc.??

on April 14, 2021 at 9:20 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 23
Hey everyone, I’m having a pretty casual backyard wedding and I’m looking for a super cheap dress - like under $300ish. I keep finding some really pretty dresses online through sites like Hebeos and TBDress but catching a bit of a weird vibe. Has anyone had experience with these kind of sites? Are the dresses quality and will a seamstress be willing to do alterations on them if needed? Any thoughts are very appreciated!

This is a huge list of dress sites to avoid. There are many posts where people have said local seamstresses refuse to alter anything from knock off sites, specifically JJ's House for example.

Legit sites are Azazie and Cocomelody which have excellent reviews if you browse the search button on the forums. They have bridesmaid dresses in white under $100.

No, and stay away from Dh gate too. They rip off other designers, and make things in cheaper materials. No refunds ( no matter that they promise them,) no service.
The prices are too good to be true, and they are.
Every maker has special orders that get defaulted on, groups of dresses they discontinue, and sample dresses going out of rotation every year. Look at the regular dresses. Azazie and others have low end but reasonably well made. Cheap because the lines are simple and one individual dress work is a minimum, at $300. But if you get a ready to ship ( often meaning, sample or discontinued dress, you may get a $400 dress for $250, something very appreciated for a small wedding. You don't want ballgowns and Cathedral lines. Look at Azazie to start. Azazie.com main site Azazie "Ready to Ship | Azazie" https://www.azazie.com/all/ready-to-ship Some will be 1 dress in a certain size. Others will say, 35 dresses across all sizes. Also check out bridesmaids dresses made in white or ivory, very simple lines no train.Experience with Hebeos, Tbdress, etc.?? 1

Hebeos is a Chinese site that sells knockoff dresses. The photos on their site are from other designers, and a seamstress recreates a copy of that dress. Sometimes it looks the same, sometimes it looks nothing like the original and is of extremely poor quality. You'd have to decide going into it whether you're willing to take that risk.

I’ve read about seamstresses refusing to work with JJ’s house and I figured these would be the same. Thanks so much for the info! =)

So helpful! And just what I was sensing with those sites. I sent my bridesmaids over to Azazie so I’ll check them out for myself and see what they have. Thank you SO very much. =)

Interesting ..I knew they seemed kind of risky especially when I couldn’t really find reviews to read. I’ll probably steer away from them and check out some other spots people have been mentioning. Thank you so much for your info!!

Etsy also has some beautiful custom dresses below that $300 mark if you have time.

DONT DO IT! Also.... places like Poshmark are just as unreliable and scammy. The other day I was on Poshmark and caught s seller who stole another sellers photos of a dress and zoomed in on them close to pass them off as theirs. I’d stay away. JJs house is actually ‘get what the image shows” its just not the best quality

Try Lulus.com. I've tried on a few dresses from their site and was impressed with the quality and price. For just under $100 I'm sure you'll find something suitable for you backyard wedding. Good luck!

I would avoid these at all costs. I would suggest looking at resale sites such as preownedweddingdresses.com, or (believe it or not) Nordstrom rack, or Facebook Marketplace. Also consider the clearance or forefitted section of dress shops. Bridesmaid dresses can also be ordered in different colors. If you are willing to compromise, Marshall's, Kohl's, TJ Maxx, and Ross do have formal dresses from time to time that can be used as a dress- I got my sister in law's courthouse dress from Ross for $10 and dressed it up with a belt from David's Bridal.

You can always opt to speak to a seamstress and see if you can get a dress custom made.
Possibilities are endless so long as you are creative.
    Best of luck!

I found my dress from Stillwhite for less than $150. I love it and it barely needs alterations except for the hem. It is second hand, so each seller is a different experience, but it worked out great for me!

From what I've heard, this is not a good site to order from! Like Stacey said, they try to replicate designer dresses - it's a hit or miss in design and sizing, the deal isn't worth the worry IMO!

I second Azazie for cheaper gowns, or even Alamour the Label! That's where I got my dress and it was right at $600. They offer Zazzle, so you can make monthly payments if you needed to do that! They are a more simple, modern designer if you're looking for that!

I went to a boutique outside of Charlotte, NC, and got my dress and veil for $430. It was a 2018 sample dress that they were just looking to get rid of!

Lulu's had some cute stuff as well!!!

LOVE THIS IDEA! I got mine from a bridal boutique sample sale as well; regular $1900 marked down to $500. Highly recommended seeing when the next sample sale is at all the fancy places nearby.
