Extra Dresses

Autumn, on May 3, 2021 at 11:47 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 4

Hi everyone! After many times postponing/retheming I am now stuck with 2 wedding dresses that have never been worn, and I am not planning on wearing. Anyone know the best place to sell them? I tried local wedding fb groups with no luck.

Still White is a great site to use for reselling your wedding dresses! You can also list them on eBay, Poshmark, and Mercari.

Along with the suggestions above, you could take it to a consignment shop as well.

I knew I wanted a dress that was either pre-owned, sample, or otherwise not the premium I would pay at a salon and I looked at most of the sites out there and StillWhite was by far my favorite platform for shopping for pre-owned/consignment dresses. The search features are better than any other site out there, and once I limited my searches to USA only, I was able to find a dress I loved pretty easily and ending up buying my dress through StillWhite.

I buy and sell on Poshmark as well and the search features aren't nearly as good. While its very easy to list and ship an item, the fees are also really high (20%), so I don't think its as good of an outlet for wedding dresses and high end items because you lose a lot of your profits to Posh. The fees on StillWhite are very reasonable (it starts at $20 to list one dress with up to four photos) but you have to pay them upfront. However I'd rather resell an expensive dress for a $20 fee than a commission of a few hundred dollars or more like you would end up paying on Poshmark or similar other websites.

I had two inexpensive alternative wedding dresses (about $150 each) cross listed to both platforms for a while. The one eventually sold on Poshmark and the other hasn't sold yet. I've had quite a few inquiries about the second dress on StillWhite but the majority of them are people messaging me "I want to buy this dress" and then completely ghosting afterwards and not purchasing. You get dead ends on both platforms though, and I think if you have a more expensive dress that you are hoping to recoup some money on, StillWhite is the way to go.
