Extra hours for makeup artist? Touch ups?

Pamela, on September 14, 2018 at 11:36 AM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 9

I'm thinking I want to keep my hair and makeup artist around until after pictures and before the ceremony. I've been to so many weddings where we are ready SO EARLY and by the time the wedding actually starts my hair has fallen and makeup is not fresh. Would it be weird to ask my makeup artist to stay longer? Obviously there would be a fee associated.

When I did makeup professionally some brides would pay me to do this. Its not weird at all but, ask her ASAP so she doesn't book something else.

I think it is a great idea!!! Have you considered airbrush makeup?

I know that stays on longer and more fresh.

We did it and it was great. It was really hot before the ceremony during pictures so she touched me up just before the ceremony and it was great

I think it's a great idea if you have that option. We are doing everything in a salon from 8am - 11am and our ceremony isn't until 3:30. We don't have the option to extend their time, but part of our application includes a lesson and the option to take home any of the products they used, so for touch ups it should be no problem. We also have a hair stylist AND a makeup artist in the family so if touch ups are needed along the way we're good, but I think extending their hours if you can is a WONDERFUL idea.

Not weird at all. I paid my HMUA to stay until after the ceremony so she could help remove my veil and touch up my hair and makeup. She offers this as part of her package.

I'm paying my HMUA to stay until after the ceremony because I am changing and will have a slightly more dramatic look for the reception. Just make sure you tell her early enough so she doesn't book something else.

It’s not a bad or crazy idea, but I feel like in most cases it’s not worthwhile/necessary. I had enough setting spray on that I woke up the next morning in full make up, and I was so caught up in the night I not only didn’t think about my face at all, but I also wouldn’t have wanted to waste a second of the night off getting touched up. Haha but otherwise I think this is a service that exists and no one would think you’re crazy for doing so
