Eyelash extensions or false lashes?

Shelby, on August 18, 2017 at 3:40 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 50

So I am debating on getting eyelash extensions before engagement pictures and then getting them also before my wedding day. I have also heard that the false lashes from sephora are a great option too! What are your opinions on which ones to go with?

I am personally getting eyelash extensions for both engagement pictures and wedding. I find extensions to be much easier to manage than lashes, plus they are always there for the events leading up to the wedding and your honeymoon which I love.

I wore false lashes on my wedding day and I loved it. It was quick, easy, and cheap. Cant beat it.

From the minuscule amount of research I've done, i dont think you can wear mascara with extensions, and i don't really like the idea of that (totally could be wrong, interested to hear from actual extensions wearers)

My plan is to wear individual false lashes, so i dont have to worry about corners popping up or concealing the band

I had fake eyelashes for my e-pics and the wedding, then I did the extensions for the honeymoon. Of course now I'm addicted - I go for touch-ups every 3 weeks.

I think if you just want them for one day, just go for the false lashes. The extensions are a lot more money and time consuming (an hour or more). Maybe your MUA will even include false lashes in the cost, or you can always purchase your own and bring them with you.

@MrsBee - that is correct. You cannot wear mascara with extensions.

As far as corners popping up or concealing the band on your false lashes, unless you have a shitty MUA, that won't be an issue.

I'm going to do eyelash extensions for both my e-photos & wedding day.

If done right, eyelash extensions look much more natural than fake lashes in my opinion.

Plus, if you are planning to go on to honeymoon right after the wedding, your lashes are taken care of for honeymoon (think about the photos that you will be taking on honeymoon). Smiley smile

I always wear the extensions and I do them myself, it just takes a bit practice...

Forgot to say : The extensions look dramatic but still natural. I save a lot of time getting ready every morning and people assume my eyes are that expressive by nature Smiley smile The fake lashes always came of after some time and the clue rim is too thick for my "natural beauty " kind of look. But i really love the pics with the fake lashes of all the other ladys here.

Extensions are better and they are thicker and darker than the falsies you won't need mascara. Falsies are much more budget friendly but also remember that there is not a glue on the market that will stand up to tears.

Falsies all the way. With the way I sleep, extensions would be smashed or torn out.

I'm interested in the same. But, have heard that extensions can cause longterm problems (like acrylic nails). Has anyone had any experience with the after effect of lash extensions?

I literally just got extensions for the first time today for my e pics on Sunday, as a trial for my wedding because I hate falsies. Whew. Run on sentence.

You don't want to wear mascara with extensions because it weakens the adhesive, and a lot of ladies don't like the idea of that BUT the lashes are so long and voluminous that you already look like you've got mascara so you don't need it. I love that about it because I will be crying on my wedding day and I won't have to worry about raccoon eyes at all. It is very pricey and touch ups are basically just full sets that cost the pricey amount every 2-4 weeks depending on how fast your lash hair growth cycle is. If you're thinking about doing extensions, I'd defiantly recommend getting a few put on ahead of time to make sure you don't react to the adhesive. I did this a week and a half ago. My girl put on four on each eye that were the same length as my natural ones so you couldn't tell. Also, you have to lay for a long time really still and that's hard for some people, so I would definitely get the tester lashes done so you can make sure you don't react and you can sit for that long.

I personally think it's worth it even though it's so much more expensive than falsies because falsies, for me, are so heavy on my eyes that while my lashes look bomb, my eyes are harder to keep open. Extensions don't feel like you're wearing anything at all and they can make them really big and voluminous or super natural. Hope this helps!

    1) extensions can be nice but if you have sparse lashes to begin with, I find that it's hard to get that dramatic look

    2) falsies - I swear no matter how high the quality, you can always see the strip, especially in photos where you have any romantic looking towards the ground photos

I actually use latisse that gave me longer and more luscious lashes naturally for the mascara to hang onto. As an asian, we have very sparse eyelashes and it really makes a difference

Definitely getting lash extensions. I've had them before for pageants and loveeeee them!!! I kept getting them for 6 months and had no damage to my natural lashes. I know I will be crying on my wedding day and didn't want to risk my strip lash lifting from my natural lash. I loved my lash extensions so much. Going back next Tuesday to get them reapplied. They are sooo hassle free!! And the perk is I don't have to mess with lashes on the honeymoon! It is addicting though haha. Waking up with perfect lashes. You just want to keep getting a fill and having perfect lashes all the time! It's definitely fun but expensive!
