Eyelash extensions or false lashes?

So I am debating on getting eyelash extensions before engagement pictures and then getting them also before my wedding day. I have also heard that the false lashes from sephora are a great option too! What are your opinions on which ones to go with?

Extensions. My appointment to get them done is already in the books, 4 days before my wedding. And you don't need mascara because they pop out on their own w/o the help of mascara. So worth the cost. They can be addictive tho. The 1st time I ever got them done I was so mesmerized that I kept up with them for months (refills ever 2 weeks) but was worth it.

I'm going to be wearing falsies. I don't really like the idea of eyelash extensions for myself because you can't wear mascara. I get that they are already dramatic enough without it but I can't really see that going over well with my super blonde lashes..

I like extensions! They really open my eyes up, were strip lashes can

    sometimes close the eye off.

Question for all the pro-extension people--how much do you actually pay per month? Do you pay once for the full set and then pay the refill price only for ongoing maintenance? Or do you have to repurchase a full set even with refill?

For example, there's a Lash Lounge near me that does $250 for initial set and then $99 for refills . . Would you essentially just pay $99 per month as long as you keep them maintained? All of these websites are unclear!

I am going to do eyelash extensions for the wedding. I did false lashes for our engagement pictures and they drove me nuts! My eyes were irritated the whole time!

@poptard I do them myself and pay about $ 20 a month. I refill every week a few and when they grow out there is a glue remover. But I have no idea how people do it when they get them done.

@PopTart - I paid $120 for the full set. At the particular salon I go to, they charge $60 for 2 week refills, and $90 for 3 week refills. After 3 months they remove them and start the process from the beginning, but they only charge $90 for that.

I have a friend who goes to a different salon and her refill costs are less than mine. I'm considering going to her salon, but some of them require you have your home salon remove them first.

I got extensions to try them out before the wedding about two weeks ago. I can say there is hands down, no question that I will be getting them for the wedding. I did buy the mascara that the lash manufacturer makes for the lashes. I use it to hit the tips of my lashes where my eyeshadow gets on there, and for my bottom lashes.

For me, false lashes (even when applied by a pro) never seem to feel even a little bit comfortable. Plus, they slip with sweat on me. If the extensions didn't work out for me, I was going to do them, but I was really reluctant. Thankfully the extensions have been fantastic and I will never not do them for big events again.

Definitely try the extensions with a good amount of time before your wedding - I tried them with the intention of getting them before my wedding, but I must have extra oily eyelids or something because they fell out way faster than they were supposed to (like, half gone within a week even with sleeping on my back, using oil-free everything, no mascara, etc.). I don't want to spend the week before my wedding nervous that by the time the big day came around my eyelashes would be all wonky! Falsies it is!

@Tamara - I go to Barbi Eyelash Extensions on Roosevelt Ave in Flushing. It can be a pain in the ass to get to due to congestion, and parking is a bitch. But the women there are wonderful, and it's a clean facility.

My friend goes to Secret Eyelash on Bell Blvd in Bayside.

I had false lashes yesterday for the first time. IMO they were irritating, I were contacts and by the time I got home my eyes were red and irritated. And they hurt getting them off even after soaking them in the shower. I had them applied at Ulta

O I'm skipping them on the big day! Pictures won't look good regardless of lash length if my eyes are red and irritated

@GymRat shitty or not, crying/sweating can loosen falsies. Not all the time but I've seen it happen to brides. I didn't really like some of my friends portraits who wore strip lashes.

Oh well. I cried and sweated my ass off, and didn't have that problem (with pics to prove it). I'll see what the pro pics look like soon.

Gymmie- thanks so much, I am located in Brooklyn, but I will definitely look into both of them since driving is no issue.

Wow GymRat those are some good deals. NY will gut your wallet on almost everything, but at least it's cheaper to be pretty there!
