Eyelash Extensions, worth the $?

Molly, on March 2, 2020 at 4:01 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 13

I have been thinking about trying eyelash extensions for my wedding day. I have never had them and I will not being having a professional do my makeup on my wedding day. Have any of you tried them? Are they worth all the money?

For me they weren’t worth the money. They ruined my real lashes and I hated not being able to rub my eyes, having to be careful how I slept, and being careful in the shower and when washing my face. I prefer just using falsies.

I've been wearing eyelash extensions for over a year now and I lovee them. I have taken 2-3 breaks without them, and I regretted taking them off each time. I love how natural they look, yet make my eyes bigger. I used to take a long time do my makeup, now it only takes me 20 min. If I were you, I would just try them out first before you decide to wear them at your wedding. Some people don't like the fact that they can't really rub their eyes or have to be careful sleeping on your side. Some people also say they ruin your lashes, but if you take good care of them they won't.

You will never not want them ever again! They are amazing! I love it especially in the morning when I wake up and I don’t look so dead.

I love mine! I got them before my engagement pictures because I can't wear regular mascara anymore and my eyelashes will not curl one bit. I have not regretted it at all! You do have to be careful not to full on rub your eyes and not to use oily products around them as that can cause them to come off faster. That being said, as long as you take care of them and brush them, you shouldn't have any issues. Also be sure to ask to do a test with the adhesive to make sure you aren't allergic!

I’ve been wearing eyelash extensions (on and off) for almost 10 years now. I knew that I was going to have them for my wedding. The maintenance isn’t as bad as it seems. I don’t really rub my eyes or sleep on my side so I don’t have to worry about that, but I can see how that can be annoying for side sleepers. Aside from having to brush them in the morning, it doesn’t add much time to my daily routine. I really think it helps you look fresh without having to do any eye makeup.

I'm not a fan of eyelash extensions. I've had them a few times throughout my life for several months at a time. Every time they made my real eyelashes shorter (people will tell you they don't, but mine did from some of my eyelashes falling off prematurely due to sleeping or me washing my face and just in general my eyelashes didn't grow as long). I also like to really cleanse my face with a good double cleanse in the evenings & mornings so it was hard being so gentle and use very specific makeup removers & cleansers to keep my lashes okay. I also had to go every 2 weeks because I didn't like how it looked when I went longer, so it got expensive. I used Babelash serum for 6 months prior to our wedding and my lashes grew a ton, they were SO long! I also got a lash lift & tint a few days before the wedding and that was great. My lashes looked long & dark even without mascara, but I did wear falsies at the wedding anyway. It was fun for the honeymoon too. I'd suggest getting a lift & tint now to see how you like the salon and how your lashes react, then getting one again closer to your wedding if you like it.

I had them for a few months in college and I didn't think they were worth it at all. They advertise them as lasting a month but that was never the case for me. I was lucky to get 2 weeks of wear out of them. You can't rub your eyes and have to be really careful when you wash your face or they fall out. I sleep on my right side consistently so they would always fall out on that side and then they were super uneven. Personally, I like glue on's more. They look fuller and when you're done with them, you can take them off.

So... I got extensions from a reasonably priced place that a friend recommended. Like you I had never gotten them done before but my eyes water so bad from allergies and it was a way to avoid mascara smudge. The first full day after getting them was awful! It took ten minutes that morning to get my eyes to stop burning... even after putting allergy drops in. Then I had to put more in half way through the day. On top of that they poked my bottom lid like crazy.

The second day was better but it sucked not being able to rub my eyes or sleep however I wanted. By the third day, wedding day, there were no problems and I was used to seeing them. I was thinking they weren't so bad and instead of having them removed right away I might keep them for the full two weeks. Of course by the end of the reception I noticed a piece seemed to be falling out of place.

By the time we got to our AirBnB for the night I had to get them off. The one that had already started coming off didn't take much work to get off (I know I should have them professionally removed but I was so over them at this point and didn't feel like waiting another day). The other one took more work but I couldn't exactly leave it on with the other already being off. So I slowly worked at it, of course I had left my oil makeup remover at home.

I ended up pulling some lashes out but they're so light no one will notice and I don't think I'll ever do them again. Maybe if I had spent more they would have lasted longer but I think my eyes just water so much that it eats at the glue as soon as it's put on.

I know they work great for some but I just thought I would share my experience.

I'd caution against having them done for the first time right before your wedding. If anything goes wrong - you don't like them or have a reaction - there will be little/nothing you can do to resolve it for your wedding day.

I don’t think I’d be able to not rub my eyes lol. Thanks for the imput! I think falsies are going to be the way I go.

I don’t wear makeup often and I sleep on my side and my stomach so I don’t think they would work for me. I never really thought about all the upkeep for them. Thank you for the imput 🙂
