Eyes Watered Nonstop After Makeup Application

Allison, on October 18, 2021 at 9:58 AM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 7

I got my hair and makeup done for my engagement photos yesterday and absolutely loved the look! However, my eyes would NOT stop watering the entire time. I rarely wear makeup and when I do, it's very minimal, so I'm not used to it. Does anyone have any tips or suggestions for ways to avoid this from happening again on my wedding day? Thank you!

This happened to me, too, at my first hair/make-up trial. It was from the false lashes/lash glue and the way they were applied. My eyes were so red and watery and we had our engagement pics taken as well this day, I was so disappointed. I wasn't kicked in the butt with my look, so I ended up having a trial run with another person, told her my experience, and she made sure the lashes were trimmed to fit and applied properly and I had zero issues. If you want to continue using your hair/make-up person, just let her know your experience-- do you think it was from your false lashes (if applicable)? It could also be from the make-up she used being old. If I use old mascara or eye shadow, my eyes will water really bad and become irritated. Hope it works out for you!

I actually have a different hair and makeup artist for my wedding! I used my sister's hair and makeup artists for my engagement photos because they're local and mine is an hour away (I also didn't want to do my trial this early on because my wedding isn't until May). I didn't even think about how it could be the false lashes! I will definitely let my hair and makeup artist know about my experience. Thank you so much for your suggestions!

I agree, it’s likely the false lashes. You may want to do research and buy your own. The MUA doesn’t normally provide the nicest/least allergic versions.

You could be allergic to something she used on you. I would see if she can use a different brand of eyeliner and mascara. That might help.

Chiming in to say it very likely could be the lashes! Maybe have the next artist try using latex free adhesive. Eyelash glue was how I found out I was allergic to latex, my eyes would itch, burn, water... My natural eyelash roots would get sooo inflamed! As soon as I switched to latex free the watery eyes and itching stopped.

It may be the lashes or the make up. I have very sensitive eyes and never were make up. Make sure your artist is using hypoallergenic products.
